eliminating envy of NT people
Lately if not for a long time that I find myself comparing who I am and what Ive achieved or havent achieved or have to NT folks. I'm so very grateful that I have a wonderful wife and great marriage and I have ajob that I have beem at coming up on 5 years and I hear about stuff other people get to do or have done or accomplished and often they are younger than me and I cant help but be envious. I work my butt off six to seven days a week and I cant really afford to take a whole lot of time off because I need the money to pay bills and keep up on stuff.
Its hard for my wife and I to go anywhere because of how bad her back is she is often in pain and not able to sit in one place for long periods.I really want to go back to school in the next two years but I know it will be a long process to getting my PHD but its something I really want to do. Any idea how to reduce the envy I so often feel? |

Re: eliminating envy of NT people
Look at it this way...you have a wonderful marriage. How many NT's can say that?

Re: eliminating envy of NT people
It's hard to look at others who seem to either have acheieved a lot and have so much and not be a bit envious. Especially if you feel like you are having to work twice as hard to get where you are.
I have two friends who are perpetually optimistic and always seem to have everything thrown at their feet. Success for them appears to be effortless and things are always going their way. For years, it was hard not to feel a bit envious of them. I've learned that while these peoples lives and success look effortless and it appears that they have everything without having to work as hard as I do, that simply isn't true. It was so easy for me to be envious when I didn't know what my friends had to go through everyday and what they had to sacrifice to achieve success and have what they have. I rarely feel envious of others anymore. I know that people are good at hiding the negative and emphasizing the postive and good. I get to see only what they want me to see. What may seem like the perfect life or easy success is just what they are putting out there for others to see. Keep in mind, there is someone out there looking at your wife, marriage, job, life in general and feeling envious of you. They are saying the exact same thing about you that you are saying here .

Re: eliminating envy of NT people
I am not envious. My life is fire and ice but its my life. I would never want to live any other life despite all the disadvantages. I am me.

Re: eliminating envy of NT people
They probably have their own problems, like complaining about trivial issues. You can rejoice in the fact you don't do that because you actually have real problems worth complaining about, which you probably don't complain about as freely as those people do about the trivial ones.
Yes. I'm in a bad mood today.
