Craziest & Funiest ADD Storys - Times you forgot stuff etc..

Here are some for you:

Bought Gas, then drove off w/out putting gas in the car.

Another time- I organized 4 places I would go, all organized in convenience. Nothing but right turns sorta thing, no back tracking.

I was supposed to order food, get gas, pick up food, go to the office.
I wrote it all down on paper, & everything went how it usually goes- I organize the day, do the first 1-2 things, then don't even refer back to that list.

So I..

1. Ordered food
2. Passed up the Gas station
3. Got to the restaurant to pick up my food, got there early cause I didn't pump gas.The Gas station was next door, to the left but was like a busy street w/an island- so I had to make a right out of the parking lot, and had to make a u turn & go back to the Gas station. And then another Uturn to get to the Gas station (Super inconvenient, woulda been perfect if woulda went as planned.)
4. Gas Station- Buy Gas, Drive off without putting Gas in the car.
5. Take off, get on the freeway, on my way to the office.
*I usually eat food down the street from the office, usually call it in & pick up in the drive thru.
6. I go to that Drive thru- where I usually pick up my food at.
7. I sit there at the window for a while, cashier finally walks up all puzzled?
Like Yes? I'm like yeah?.... They're like yeah?... so...? I'm like, I'm here to pick up my food.. They're like you ordered food?
I look to my right & see my Take out sitting in the passenger seat.
I laugh, and tell the cashier I already had food, stopped there out of habit.
8. Get to the office, realize I didn't put the Gas in the car.
9. Punch the steering wheel (probably) I don't remember haha
10. Drove all the way back to that pretty darn far away Gas station,Freeway
11. Tell the Gas Station attendant what happened.
12. She said it automatically gets put back on my debit card if I don't use the gas within 2 minutes. So I went back for nothing haha.
Drive back to the office, shaking my head & laughing.

Re: Craziest & Funiest ADD Storys - Times you forgot stuff etc..

Haha, nawww... I actually wrote a list of these types of things a couple of weeks ago!
Here's some good ones:

1. Once, when i was in my teens, and was thirsty, i poured myself a bowl of water. It didn't click until i went to take a sip. Thank god i was home alone! haha

2. Had lunch at hungry jacks w/ then bf, took my usual large diet coke with me, sat it on the roof of the car, unlocked car, got in car, drove home, got out, locked car, grabbed drink, walking along, took a sip... Bf asks how i suddenly have my drink... Then i *click* and wonder... How did that not seem exceptionally weird to me? How many times had i done that? Without ever realising?? Lol.
3. I have worn clothes inside out without realising- but whats worse is that because of family superstition, even once ive noticed i cannot put whatever on the right way as taking it off is bad luck once you've taken a step- for this reason, my great nana bennett went to my mums wedding with her dress on inside out, dressed to the nines otherwise!
4. Waiting for the bus home from my holiday, i left my entire suitcase on the seat next to me- thankfully got it back. Later, bought a smaller bag for next trip, left that at the bus stop- didnt get that one back.
5. Almost put facewash on my toothbrush pretty regularly.
6. Have tried to use tv remote on my computer a lot.
7. Frequently, i pay for things and walk off without them, double that for cash out.
8. I also can spend an hour tearing the house apart looking for something, only to realise ive already gotten it out and its on the coffe table, or worse- sometimes if its something small, i am holding.

*shame* lol

That'll do for now.

I'm 23 btw, and thanks for starting this thread!

xxBB

Re: Craziest & Funiest ADD Storys - Times you forgot stuff etc..

I was ringing up a complicated transaction for a guy who wanted to put all the cash he had against his purchase, then use his debit card for the remaining balance.

So, after he's counted out his cash - and I seem to remember that involving everything from rumpled bills to small change excavated from pockets as well as some contributed by the guy who was with him - after I've counted all that against his purchase, and he's handed me his debit card..........I ask him "Do you want any cash back?"

Re: Craziest & Funiest ADD Storys - Times you forgot stuff etc..

hahahahahahhaa@ the cash back.
And super surprised the Soda was still on the car!

Once, on the way to the DMV to get my drivers license.
I had my original birth certificate, the one with the feet prints on it, the souvenir. (The wrong one to begin with.) Plus copies of all my personal info, everything! Social etc.. in one envelope, put it on the roof of the car as I put my belt on. Drove off, who knows where it went. Checked all over the streets for it! Nada!

I think I've went in the house, & went about my day forgetting I had Groceries in the car that needed to be in the frigerator.

So many times I will just randomly turn left or right out of the drive way, I don't do this anymore. But for a while there I would just turn either way- like suppose the place I needed to go was to my right.. Without even thinking I'd make a left, then later be like ah... hahahaha I turned the wrong way.

And a lot of times I've made a series of turns out of habbit, left out of the drive way, left on the next big street, then drive for a good few blocks & then I'll start thinking about where I'm going, which way etc.. and I'll laugh so hard cause sometimes it's like 100% of the driving I did was in the complete opposite direction, so now I have to go back, and basically pass by the house & everything.. Don't do that anymore though..

Re: Craziest & Funiest ADD Storys - Times you forgot stuff etc..

i dont know if it's ADHD but one of the 2 cousins doing it with me might have it along with a few other things, but we built a shantyass skate ramp in the garage over vacation out of 2 panels of wood, a cooler, and a propane tank.

another time i put soap on my toothbrush and washed my hands with toothpaste...realized it a little late

My husband could probably note a million nutty things i do in a day.

now that I try to think of one, I can't.

Except I normally hit my car alarm button to unlock my front door (to my house) . It doesn't work. I tried it a thousand times.

2 Days ago:

Get suitcase out of girlfriend's trunk
Close the trunk. It doesn't take.
She yells 'No!'
Close it anyway.

The keys were in there. Dammit.

Go looking for box of Shapes. See that they're not in the cupboard, assume someone has eaten them.

One day feel like having an icecream, open up freezer and find box of Shapes there.

Have also misplaced jar of rice and found it with the pots and pans.

Re: Craziest & Funiest ADD Storys - Times you forgot stuff etc..

Picking up a check for $100,000 dollars (back in the late eighties!) from a client and finding that I had lost it by the time I got in my car a few minutes later. After exhaustive searching, having to go back in to ask them to write another check and cancel the first one. Luckily I was on great terms with them.

Managing to lock my keys in a PO box, but not knowing until I got home and couldn't let myself in.

I can now look back and see some incidents as being ADD emotion regulation related - The streets around the whole neighborhood had been torn up for new sewers and the crews had been working late into the evenings. I called the city and found out they were not allowed to work past nine o'clock. The next evening I went out to enforce the city ordnance. An argument ensued which ended up with me sitting on a pile of dirt while Bob Cats nibbled away at the edges. Eventually the foreman decided it was too unsafe and they gave up.

Re: Craziest & Funiest ADD Storys - Times you forgot stuff etc..

I was driving to a gig earlier today thinking about how my meds didn't seem to be working when I realized I had missed my exit on the free way and had to drive an extra 10 miles out of the way.

Then I get to the area of the gig and I can't find it, I'm looking at my iphone map and notice that the pin that represents me and the pin that represents the venue I was going to were right next to each other. But I couldn't find it so I called a band member who told me what it was next to. I still couldn't find it. Then I realized that the street name and address were on my phone screen but I just didn't see them. Then I realized I was literally right in front of where I was supposed to be.

I was so stressed out about not having enough money to cover my most recent psych appt that when I realized I had enough to pay for it I felt very relieved. However I forgot to pay for my appointment when I got there. (why they didn't remind me I don't know, I'm guessing they'll send me a bill.)

I've ordered food at McDonalds in the drive thru and paid for it then left without picking up my food a few different times.

I could go on but it gets depressing...

Lol, good thread! I constantly find out hours after I get dressed that something I have on is backwards. Also, and this one makes no sense to me or my family, but I keep putting the television remote in my purse when I am leaving the house. I never have any memory of doing it. I must be thinking it is my phone or something.

Re: Craziest & Funiest ADD Storys - Times you forgot stuff etc..

One day my car broke down and I had it towed to a shop. I had my aunt pick me up and she lent me her extra car.

I picked up a pizza for dinner drove home, to my gated condo complex. Then I realized I left my house keys on my car key chain, with the mechanics.

I was so upset I just sat on the sidewalk and ate my pizza.

Then I called my landlord and asked if I could borrow their key. So I drive back home, use their key to get in.

A homeless man knocks on my door at 8:00 AM the following morning. For some reason, I open the door, with no conern of danger. He has found my OTHER set of keys that had my mailbox key and key to my aunt's car. Apparently I dropped it outside while I was eating pizza on the sidewalk.

I'm so confused and flustered that I quickly thank him and close the door. I forgot to offer him a reward or anything!!!! I still look for him, to this day, so I can repay him. He could have stolen the car, or worse, but he was a good guy.

Cliffnotes: Left house keys at mechanic. Locked out. Got extra key from landlord. Apparently lost other set of keys. Homeless man find them and brings them to me.
