we weren't chased but we left the golf course VERY quickly...I don't think I've ever seen my dad so freaked out. I must have been about 10 or 11.
By the way - this was in Lutsen.

I haven't, but Marilyn once did. She was chased for so long she lost her shoes and one of her socks! But eventually she managed to kill the mighty beast, skin it and turn it into a comfy napping spot.

Re: Chased by a polar bear?

How funny you should mention "Cops"....my ex was (is) a cameraman on that show for YEARS ! ......I got a trip to Portland, Ore, Philly, and London cause I wanted to go to those cities ......

the crews ( 2 people, one cameraman and one sound guy, the cameraman acted as the field producer) about 6 of them would go to a city, and stay there for 6 weeks.....some of the cities they went back to again and again ...like Miami ....each crew would ride with a cop for at least a couple of weeks .....long enough so that the cop would just about forget that they were in the car .....

I did see some very interesting "rough cuts" over the years that never made it to air.....

oh and Tom also shot an old Disney feature, about a polar bear too ! .....but the actual bear they used wasn't wild, it had been hand raised from cubhood but it's handler ....so that's how they managed that ......in truth, polar bears are not really something one wants to get very close to ......

.....and if I am not mistaken, brown bears are grizzlies .......heard that somewhere.....

......and is there anything in the world, ok maybe kittens, that is cuter than a polar bear cub ????

Fascinating!

I guess South Africa would really slow after a snow.

Probably happy to see the snow melt.

Are polar bears amphibious animals?

I was in Canada exactly straight up north at the time.

I went to a concert in Minneapolis once.

Hockey Hall of Fame(?) with a giant hockey stick.

the size of the rink.

True story:

I worked at a golf course,

and one year.

A abandoned baby black bear lived on the golf course.

Every once in a while,

I would be cutting the heavy ruff,

driving by berry bushes,

and a little bear would come running out in front of my machine.

Three years later,

I was golfing,

(side note:undiagnosed ADHD and golfing don't really go good together)

I hit a rare the best shot of my life.

The swing felt like a pendulum.

I hit the ball so perfect,

it felt like I lightly touched the ball with the club.

The ball landed right next to the hole.

I had no idea what I did right?

And that really bothered me.

Then I putted in for a birdie on the par 3.

My first and only birdie (before started taking medication).

And I looked back at the tee box where we hit the ball from.

And the biggest black bear I have ever seen,

close to a size of grizzly (brown bear),

came walking out of the woods,

With its nose sniffing up in the air.

I wonder if we saw the same bear.

Golf is so different medicated.

I can hit a ball really straight almost every time.

And predict the distance.

I even bought a book,

and read it,

and taught myself.

I haven't played in a while though,

golf is ******* expensive)

Great Idea!

In northern Canada someone shot a grizzly bear,

and it turned out to be half Polar Bear/ half Grizzly.

I think the theory is that because the ice is melting,

the polar bears spend more time on land.

And the grizzly and the polar bear hooked up.

I have had a lot of awesome teachers.

But,

I once saw a sunday school teacher,

Sit on a student for almost an entire class.

He even pushed the students head down to his knees,

and sat on his back. (if you could imagine)

The student kept pushing him off,

and the teacher kept pushing him down.

And sitting/leaning on him.

My friend even tried to make a brake for the window at one point.

All this while the class watched.

I knew the student well,

and I am sure my friend has sever ADHD.

My friend had a ruff life,

and was a handful,

He threw a book out the window.

But still that is not excuse to sit on him.

I forgot all about that til now.

A similar story happened to GinnieBean!!

Except Ginnie Bean felt bad,

and let the polar bear go.

Then got killed.

Re: Chased by a polar bear?

Actually I know this guy who is a polar guide for film crews and scientists and he was out taking a dump one morning away from camp when a polar bear surprised him.
He did the worst possible thing and ran away but thankfully the camp was really close by and they chased the bear off.
