Do you talk to yourself a lot?

Just a curious thought that popped into my brain WHILE I was talking to myself. So I realised, whether I'm alone or with my friends, I tend to have conversations with myself. I'm not officially diagnosed with ADHD or anything for that matter, but I am a very hyper kid with an extremely loud voice and can't stop talking. Anyway, I have 2 sided conversations with myself and I even crack jokes, thus receiving weird glares from my friends when I suddenly burst into uncontrollable laughter.

Is this normal for you or am I just going mad :P

I talk out loud, but have never had a 2-sided conversation.

Re: Do you talk to yourself a lot?

Yes, all the time. Even have full conversations with myself and yes I do get answer too. Not too much now that I'm on meds but, I can tell when it's wearing off. The noise of thoughts get louder.

Re: Do you talk to yourself a lot?

Yes, and I have improved in how I talk to and with myself by trying to be more positive, constructive and productive meaning I have learned to mentally talk through situations to be a better outcome in reality.

Re: Do you talk to yourself a lot?

I talk to myself all the time .....

but a funny story ...my sister was helping me re-do my house , painting and stuff like that ...and I would be outside, and it was summer so all the windows were open ....and I would hear these conversations going on inside .....

She'd be carrying on complete conversations using different voices .......

then again, she told me she knew that my house had "pookas" ( a large invisible critter, like a 6 foot rabbit)...she was serious......

Re: Do you talk to yourself a lot?

I babble a fair bit when doing something menial and boring such as washing the dishes, having a shower, or driving the car. It often takes the form of singing but sometimes it's silly noises. Only rarely do I actually say something to myself like "good work!" or "hmm, I wonder..." Mostly it's gibberish.

And I only really do it when alone or with my family.

(I haven't been diagnosed with anything either, though).

Re: Do you talk to yourself a lot?

Allll the time, especially while doing homework - in that case I tend to sort of narrate everything I'm doing, and it sort of helps things make more sense. Sometimes I unintentionally talk to myself - as in, I'll be talking to somebody and rambling on so long about something that makes zero sense and has zero relevance that they'll stop listening and I'll just on keep talking

Re: Do you talk to yourself a lot?

I tend to talk to myself. Sometimes I think about something and feel I need to explain about it in detail to myself. Not sure why?
