Re: The Unimaginable

Kelzia ...I am so sorry ....I lost my little sister in 1999, and I still miss her every day.....that never goes away .....and the shock ...that takes a long time too.....your sister was important to you ....that is the double edged sword of caring .....

but how lucky you are to have had a sister you loved.....even though the time with her wasn't enough and cut too short ....

......this is a song that Vince Gill wrote when his brother died ....I wanted it at Katy's funeral ....but mom, well ...she didn't .....

and then I saw this movie "4 Weddings and a Funeral " and this speech just floored me ....I thought Yah ...that's it ....no wonder I am not a writer, it takes genius to come up with this ..so perfect .....

I am so sorry ....

Re: The Unimaginable

Thank you so much everyone for your kindness and sympathy. I really do appreciate it.

Salleh, that speech from Four Weddings and a Funeral... wow. I am floored. My sister's funeral is this weekend and I don't know what to say. I may have found at least some of my words here. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Re: The Unimaginable

I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I'm no good at telling people things will be okay when they are obviously just not okay. So I leave you with some quotes that might be able to capture the devastation of loss. Sometimes it is important to feel it and know that you are not alone in those feelings.

Shakespeare, of course, says that better. "“Give sorrow words; the grief that does not speak knits up the o-er wrought heart and bids it break.”
― William Shakespeare, Macbeth

“It's so much darker when a light goes out than it would have been if it had never
shone.”

― John Steinbeck, The Winter of Our Discontent

“I knew what it was like to lose someone you loved. You didn't get past something like that, you got through it.”
― Jodi Picoult, Change of Heart

Many hugs for you ((hug))

Re: The Unimaginable

I'm so sorry.

I admire your perspective, as you have so much wisdom. I can't imagine your little sister being any less special and wise.

I have three younger siblings, and I would be devastated with them gone.

I thought about this:

There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven ~

A time to give birth, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted.

A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to tear down, and a time to build up.

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance.

A time to throw stones, and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, and a time to shun embracing.

A time to search, and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep, and a time to throw away.

A time to tear apart, and a time to sew together; A time to be silent, and a time to speak.

A time to love, and a time to hate; A time for war, and a time for peace.

Re: The Unimaginable

Keliza, I am so so sorry for your loss, I cannot even begin to imagine what you're going through right now - I have two younger brothers who I love to pieces...bonds between siblings are strong ones, and that is no doubt an extraordinarily tough thing to lose. You are in my thoughts and I hope you know we're here for you

Re: The Unimaginable

I'm so sorry to hear that...

My brother died when I was 11 and for years afterwards he would walk into my dreams, large as life. We did great things together and it made the empty space he left easier to bear.

I wish you the same comfort. Someone who dwells like that in your heart can never really leave.

I hope it helps. ((hugs))

Re: The Unimaginable

Lost my grand parents, aunt and an ADHD friend when he committed suicide.

I can not let go of them. I miss them... so much

Must be tough losing someone that close.

Re: The Unimaginable

I imagine that like your profile pic, your sister spread love and kindness across the world. Try to focus on all of the new flowers that will bloom because of her touch and remember that she will always be alive in your heart and mind. Take care. Much sympathy to you and yours. *hugs*
