Re: Are you more open about yourself than most?

Thanks for your interesting story Geno !

I've only had cocaine and cannabis in the drug area. And one nasal inhaler. But all it gave me was a high dose of confidence, joy, and desire (more than normal) to communicate with anyone about anything.

Re: Are you more open about yourself than most?

I think when I reveal things about myself, I do so in an extremely negative light. This effects the subconscious impression others have of me. I wouldn't say more open, just open in an inappropriate way.

Re: Are you more open about yourself than most?

I'm generally open with everyone unless I have the suspicion that they're going to judge me about it. Although generally I don't usually think twice to say anything about my private life to strangers and sometimes I'll have to be either told that they didn't want to know about that or that I was brave to bring it up...

I'm the kind of person that would say things like "Oh hi everyone, my mom is schizo and I'm an only child"... [awkward looks o.O] LOLz

Re: Are you more open about yourself than most?

I've learned, over the past few months, that I open up way too much to people. I always assume that everyone I get to know is automatically my friend (and therefore friends everyone I'm friends with), that everyone is honest about what they tell me and that I can be too. Not always the case, as I'm learning....

Limiting who knows what about me and who is allowed into my personal space is the best thing for me emotionally. There are things now, that if I'm asked about by certain friends or acquaintances, I just won't share. I'm learning that there are some people who, for one reason or another, will throw things back in my face, twist things I've said or instantly judge me based on what I've told them about myself.

I don't need that kind of hassle in my life. People who accept me for who I am are the one's that I know I can trust and I will share anything with.

That, far too often is my fly in the soup as well, especially when just bragging about something I just accomplished in front of the girl I'm in love with (not really but something similar often)

Re: Are you more open about yourself than most?

Not really. Sometimes I would like to be more open and I dream of that one person whom I could tell everything, every dark, disgusting thought of mine. Well, I think that shall better remain a dream.

I'm pretty secretive, I guess. I don't mind talking about my opinions and ideas (maybe too much) but I don't divulge a lot of personal information or tell people about how I feel, especially if it's negative. With most people, what I enjoy the most is talking about impersonal subjects: The news, music, philosophy, politics, travelling, etc. and err..the weather. I love talking about the weather.

I rarely confide in anyone. Pretty much never, except for my husband, and even that is usually just because he always knows when there is something wrong with me.

Except here on the forums, here I can't seem to shut up about anything.

I'm the same. I'm open about myself regarding facts. Not about feelings. I'll tell complete strangers my life story. Discuss stuff like origins and what kind of food I like, where I went to school and what I do for a living, but definitely not feelings. I'm quite open about opinions and theories as well.

Yes! Well, sort of . . . I'm really shy until I decide for whatever reason that I trust someone and want to get to know them. Then I really want to talk about everything and love being asked questions. Unfortunately I forget that other people aren't that way and I can get too probing with them sometimes. :\

Yay!

It's not just that I'm too probing but also that I have . . . an insufficient amount of tact, at least for dealing with more sensitive people. I'm dating a guy that's kind of withdrawn and shy and we had to have a talk about how my questions often make him feel uncomfortable because of my wording. Like how instead of just asking why he doesn't talk about himself as much, I ask why he's so danged shy! Augh, why is it so hard to think about things before they come out of my mouth?? Oh wait, ADD, that's right.

I'm just like him around people I don't know. When someone asks me why, I don't know what to say, I mean, the only reason for shyness is social anxiety, if I just disliked people I wouldn't be shy, I'd just stay away from people. saying "because people I don't know scare me ****less" would weird people out, and lying and saying something easy like "Because I don't like talking" makes people think you're antisocial. It's just an awkward question even to a person as open as me.

I LOVE PHARMACOLOGY! It's interesting learning how eating a chemical can cure diseases, change how you feel/think. I've read countless books, articles, research essays, and etc. on it. If you have an interest in it too or want to have a discussion about it, I'm open to it.

Re: Are you more open about yourself than most?

Boundaries are a problem for me. I have a tendency to overshare, especially when fatigued. With strangers, it is usually perceived as just being unusually friendly, and is received warmly, but I think sometimes it just strikes people as weird.

I have a lot of difficulty judging where the line is, especially in work relationships. The line is different with different people. I feel like "normal" people instinctively know where this line is, but not me. The effort of compartmentalizing is taxing to me, but I'm so fearful of making this mistake again that I'm in constant tension.

I have been taken advantage of because of just this thing. I have trouble realizing when someone "normal" has crossed MY line with less than honorable intentions because they can sense that vulnerability. Usually it's been guys who mistake my "friendliness and inquisitiveness" as flirting.

Yeah, girls like you I HATED all through high school. The kind that were overly friendly to guys they had no interested in. Imagine how you'd feel if a hot guy was like that to you and then you found out he had zero interest in you and was just being nice. Haha, ****ty feeling. No offense, you don't mean to be so misleading, but generally guys take over-friendlyness as flirting.
