Our discussion here seems to be exploring sex, gender, and ADD.
One of questions I've also had lately, and has recently come up in this forum, is friendship and gender. While a lot of us have a lot of tomboy tendencies, how do we fare with making friends with girls? It will be interesting to see. I'm interested in if you have identified as a tomboy or not, and if you usually have guy friends or girl friends. Poll to follow! ![]() |

Re: Do you have mostly guy friends or girl friends?
When I was in high school I had a lot of guy friends. But now that I'm an adult, I have mostly girl friends. I'm not tomboyish, but I'm not a girly girl either.
I fall right in the middle. There's certain things I'm really girly about, like I LOVE painting my toe nails, but I also love using power tools. My husband says I act "girly" though, I just don't do the whole fashion dress up thing. |

Re: Do you have mostly guy friends or girl friends?
It used to be that most of my friends were guys, but I've found a few girls who are very similar to me that I mostly talk to now. Off the wall, blunt, and 'guy-ish' in their manner of speaking or seeing the world. Actually, now that I think of it, one of them might be ADHD...
But for more acquaintance, we hang out when we see each other, things? The guys outnumber the girls 3-1. Oh and, massive tomboy, still am to some degree, but nowhere near as bad as I used to be. I played five separate sports, climbed trees like a monkey, and usually came home with filthy clothes and somehow either dirt, sand, leaves, or sticks somewhere in my hair. Still definitely much more active than the 'average' person.

Re: Do you have mostly guy friends or girl friends?
Mostly females as friends, guys want more, so friendship is not possible for me, sadly.

Re: Do you have mostly guy friends or girl friends?
now i don't have any friends just acquaintances but the acquaintances that i enjoy hanging out with are mostly male. i don't think I've ever been very tomboyish but i can't really relate to girls and their usual interests bore me. Somehow also men seem to take better to me than women. Since college I've always studied or worked in typical male dominated fields so maybe I'm just more used to guys now. as I'm getting older though I'm becoming less gender oriented. There are jerks and interesting people among both sexes and they are pretty equally distributed.

Re: Do you have mostly guy friends or girl friends?
Ocyan, to quote Google dictionary:
A tomboy is a girl who enjoys activities traditionally associated with boys. I have both tendencies. I grew up doing whatever interested me, be it playing with Barbies or playing in the mud. I always did want to be pretty. Now that I'm older, it's even more extreme. Like Zevispaz, I love using power tools and building things. Being a beekeeper is a very dirty, sweaty hobby. But on the flip side, I have long hair that I tend to do elaborate things with and I tend to wear dresses when I don't have to be doing something that requires otherwise. The most casual thing I'd ever wear out to dinner is a nice pair of jeans and a blouse, but usually it's a dress. ![]() I've spent a day in the bee yard with pincurls in my hair on many occasions because I knew I was going out that night. ETA: My close friends are mostly women. I have a few good guy friends. My beekeeping BF is a guy, he's become a good friend outside of beekeeping. He and the wife go out with the hubby and I a lot. Other than him, and the hubby, my few confidants are all female. Loads of acquaintances of both genders though.

Re: Do you have mostly guy friends or girl friends?
I voted "Tomboy with mostly female friends"
Without getting into gender binary stuff... I will say that I've been a "tomboy" all my life. I'm just not drawn to things that are typically "feminine". That's just not me. I have a lot of male friends, sure... but I think I have more female friends... I get along with everyone though... bridging the gap, so to speak. |

This is a poll for women, silly. That's why it is in the women's section.

Re: Do you have mostly guy friends or girl friends?
I don't want to vote. I think I will mess up your results
![]() I think about this, and I would have to say that I do have more girl friends. But I by far get along better with boys. Although I get along better with boys, calling them "friends" is a stretch. I get along with them so much I usually get in trouble!!

Re: Do you have mostly guy friends or girl friends?
y'know, if I were still in school, this would be a KICK *** paper topic, lol.
I said other, I never had many friends period as a kid, but was more of a tom boy than a girly girl. I'm currently 31 and only now have noticed my girly side won't kill me, but I wouldn't say I'm a tom boy or not still... but I do have more female friends- none of us are typical girls tho.

Re: Do you have mostly guy friends or girl friends?
Everything depends with me...my closest friends are typically girls, but I do have a few close guy friends as well. I am definitely not a girly girl, but I'm not quite a tomboy either - I don't enjoy "boy" stuff like sports and cars and that kind of thing, but I never liked "girl" stuff either like princesses or horses or makeup. I love clothes but nothing too girly like lace or pink or flowers - "edgy" is more my thing.
When I was in elementary school the girls at my school were kind of cruel to me so I mostly hung out with boys, who were more accepting. Once I moved to a school where I fit in better, I started hanging out with predominantly girls. Now I have a pretty even mix of guy friends and girl friends, which fits my pretty evenly mixed personality of the girl who has lightsaber battles with her brothers and the girl who loves high heels and romcoms ![]() |

Re: Do you have mostly guy friends or girl friends?
Growing up and thru adult hood, I would not fit in to either category . I was a girly girl who could also be a tomboy and excel at both! But I have had sIgnIficAntly more male friends opposed to female . Always assumed that was the Aquarius in me!

Re: Do you have mostly guy friends or girl friends?
I do not fit into either category. I am both a tomboy and girly girl( hence da name) but, throughout my life I have had significantly more male friends opposed to female friends.
Diagnosed clinically as ADD, Bipolar type 2 (mixed), borderline OCD also superstitious! |
