Are you worried about the future of Adderall?

I have become a little worried about the future of Adderall in terms of availability on the market. I have taken it for around half a year and am having absolutely amazing results with it.

Every time I hear about Adderall (or other amphetamine-based medications) on the news, it is ALWAYS in a negative light. Athletes being caught abusing it, the fact that it's becoming a huge problem in schools and universities, and here in Canada it has been changed from a Schedule 3 to Schedule 1 drug. It's also being portrayed the same way in the media. In a recent episode of Weeds, the main character starts illegally selling a generic version of Adderall to partying college students.

What do you all feel the future holds for this drug? I am worried that the number of people abusing the medication may result in it being withdrawn from the market. Do you think it is here to stay, or do you think there is a chance all the people abusing it will ruin it for the people who actually need it?

Re: Are you worried about the future of Adderall?

I sometimes worry that SHIRE may be sitting on a load of facts they dread and anticipate surfacing in the future. They continually seem to not wan't to invest in accommodating larger production, but this is only my speculation which is meritless of facts.
Forgive me, but I just had my first surprise refill of ACTAVIS brand yesterday and I still don't know why the SHIRE generic has suddenly fell from supply.

It makes too much money for it to be pulled.

Benzos are addictive, and they remain on the market.

Re: Are you worried about the future of Adderall?

I am not prescribed Adderall right now. However, I think that is what I hope to be able to get at my next appointment.

I hate Straterra. I have never been more miserable on anything.

I have serious issues with people with our condition that sell the pills.

When I was on Ritalin when I was younger, I always had plenty of extra. Now as an adult, I dont see that being the case, however for a college student that doesn't work full-time, or one that just got a script from a doc for finals week (I know of a LOT of people that just asked for it for finals week)...

They are going to have extra pills. If they have the IR, and they have one class a day, they should be able to easily have extras

In another sense (I am sorry this is so scattered, I am a wreck right now)...

I CANNOT STAND IT WHEN "NORMAL PEOPLE" TAKE THESE MEDICATIONS. WE TAKE THEM TO BE NORMAL. WE TAKE THEM SO WE CAN DO NORMAL THINGS, like for an example, I choose to go back on medication so I could drive without forgetting I am driving. Now, I just hope I can get put on Adderall or Ritalin. However, it has been a horrible fight as a college student to get the medication I so desperately need because of these people.

I am seriously concerned.

Are you concerned about the eventual availability of adderall or just of people that get them who don't qualify for them?

Re: Are you worried about the future of Adderall?

I am concerned a little. But that goes with saying Adderall is shires "Blockbuster" drug to much money is made from it for them to just drop it..

But with recent shortages, I am worried that the DEA is putting in harsher restrictions soon portrayed by the media than what we already have now and will cause some problems down the road... Or I can be completely wrong in which I hope I am and everything is smooth sailing for everyone. That would be really nice.

Re: Are you worried about the future of Adderall?

I am concerned that the DEA will classify adderall as a schedule I drug.

On a side note:
There too many stupid people that think Adderall is meth.

Not worried, nothing is going to affect adderall. Stay off the news; It's designed to fill you with emotion.
