I am a new member. I just wanted to introduce myself.

My name is janae. I am a single mom with two kids. I have a typical 5 yr old daughter and a son who is 4 1/2 diagnosed with adhd and odd. Life is extremley hard at times. I am new to the adhd and odd. I always new there was something different about my son and the pediatrician always blew it off. It wasnt until his daycare threatened to expell him that i finally got a referral to neuro. Neuro dx'd him him adhd and odd and strongly recommended meds. We started the meds about 10 days ago and have noticed a major improvement in his behavior. He has had fewer outbursts and is much calmer.

I look forward to chatting with other parents experiencing the same issues at home and school. Its nice to know we are not alone.

Medication works best when combined with behavior management strategies such as those outlined in Dizfriz's Corner (a 'sticky' in the General Parenting section)

When you have the time, read through some of the essays; I'm sure youy'll find some good tips for managing your son's behavior. (they work for kids who don't have ADHD, too. )
