Strattera to Ritalin

Aloha,

Currently I'm on 40mg x 2 a day, Strattera, and have been so for roughly nearly three years. I'm working on changing this to Ritalin. Has there been any others who have made the same move? If so, would be able to please describe pros and cons?

Cheers big ears.

Or anything else one may feel relevant!

It was once working, but I'm finding as time has gone on its been less and less effective plus the side effects for me, I won't accept anymore. I live my life around Strattera, it doesn't live around me.

Re: Strattera to Ritalin

Hi,
I`ve been on Strattera before and I stopped ist slowly over 1 month(from 40 to 25, to 10 and then stopped).
Then I switched to Ritalin LA,10 mg in the morning and I`m fine with that for about 3 years now. I don`t have any side effects with Ritalin as I had with Strattera.
The difference is that I`m not that quiet/dizzy as I was with Strattera, but it`s better for the concentrationfor me. In the evening I don`t have anything left of that, but when you take it 2 times at a day maybe it works well for you.
I would give it a try.

Re: Strattera to Ritalin

I tried a sample of Strattera, then got on Ritalin. On strattera I have issues urinating and Ritalin had a similar effect. If a med stops helping you concentrate, it might be because your body is building tolerance to it. I've avoided that effect by not taking the Ritalin or whatever too often (I've tried adderall too, but it made me pee too much). I only take my Ritalin when I want to focus on a college paper or studying for an exam.

Re: Strattera to Ritalin

Thank you for the advice so far. It is actually quite comforting to know of successes in a similar position to that I am in. I am aware of tolerance building up and thats another issue I have with Strattera as you need to take it continuously, its just not that easy to miss a few doses and come back.
