Re: In the end of the day, what do you hang onto?

Most days I feel empty at the end and wonder the same thing: what's the point of this (even on good days). I've take 25 meds or so to find something that works, and what I've found is Pristiq, adderall and dexedrine seem to work the best. I'm on bupropion right now at 300mg and I don't even notice if I forget to take it. Pristiq, if it does anything, keeps me from cycling down as low as I might if left to my own devices. Everyone is different.

The brief moments I feel excited about life all stem from my imagination. Imagining myself doing something incredible, or making a project I'm working on succeed.

Aerobic exercise, as you've been told a 1,000 times, and will be told several thousand more, is absolutely, undeniably necessary for people with any kind of ADD. It gets blood ot parts of the brain that are sluggish and revitalizes everything. It's really hard to keep up sometimes, but everyone's brain works tremendously better after 30 minutes of cardio.

Re: In the end of the day, what do you hang onto?

Very cliche' but a long walk in the woods with my sweety and his sister's pitbull who rarely gets out of the house. That is what gets me through. You don't have to make important decisions or struggle to focus. Out in nature you can just be. And I like finding wooly bears this time of the year.

I keep some of these pictures either on my screen saver or printed to tape on my walls. They're the closest thing I have to inspiration and can sometimes cheer me up, make me laugh, or at least remind me it's not over yet.

Re: In the end of the day, what do you hang onto?

I´m so used to living the way I am and I never considered that I could be any different. I have recently been diagnosed add and only came on this site to look for info regarding my recently diagnosed son. It was then I realised that I can´t help him with all the things I need to because I am worse than he is.

Otherwise I don´t think I would bother taking meds and trying to improve if it wasn´t for my kids.

I don´t consider myself depressed and neither does my doc but I feel that I am on this earth just waiting until I die (and I don´t mean that in an feel sorry for myself depressed way) just as a matter of fact way.

I´ve never really acknowledged how add has impacted on my life and I´m actually quite an optimistic person, I never dwell, just believe that things will be ok.

Re: In the end of the day, what do you hang onto?

that even if i fail at everything else in life... when it mattered most...i didn't fail ...in part because i'd succeeded in making sure another knew he didn't fail me.

if i never do anything else of use or value...that truly seeing and having been seen...is enough.

Re: In the end of the day, what do you hang onto?

Just like you here. I end up playing a lot of games and being depressed all the time. At the end of the day, I don't really know what I hang onto and I end up staying awake and pulling at all nighter being depressed in my room. I got a bf and things got a lot better (although this still happens all the time, there's a significant change). He's been extremely supportive and I think it might be getting better.

Nevertheless, I still have nothing to say in most social interactions, I don't know how to react to things people say and every social outing with friends is like work more than work, and I only go because I know I need to be social to survive. People find my reactions weird a lot, an awkward pause. They try to go with it but after awhile they don't talk to me much, or anymore. They only do out of absolute necessity.
