ADD Chatroom?

Is there an ADD/ADHD chat room or scheduled chats on the ADD Forums? I'd enjoy some like-minded camaraderie.

No, there isn't and as far as I know, it isn't planned either. At least not as part of the forums. I think, there used to be one but they got rid of it. I'm not exactly sure why but if I remember correctly, the owner of the site doesn't want there to be a chatroom (maybe it would make moderating the site even more difficult).

Thank you so much for the quick answer! I remember back when the internet started (AOL/Prodigy floppy disks...remember those??? LOL) chat rooms were ALL THE RAGE. They just don't seem to be anywhere near as popular. I was thinking it would be a really efficient way to find support and advice.

Also, the the forum admins don't like it when people put links to other forums or chatrooms... as an alternative, google for chatrooms/forums relating to other co-morbid disorders..
I won't mention places, but you can find it out.

We had a chat room here some time ago but it spent way to much time broken. The "powers that be" tried several fixes, tweaks up grades but the feature never seemed to work well for very long.

It would over load with 12 members chatting, have people singed into it that were not here , refused to others in , got hung , stuff like which happened so frequently that it became more of a frustration than any thing else.

Why can't you just put a link to a chat in the navigation or in the chat page? I mean like an offsite chatroom, like using xat or mibbit.

The chat was not removed due to inability to moderate it, inability to fund it perhaps but moderators used the chat rooms right along side the membership just like we post in threads.

I belong to other forums and none of them have live chat rooms either.

A question was asked erroneous assumptions were made as to why we didn't have one I shared what I personally knew.




Why would any forum in their right mind want to direct it's membership away from it's own community? I mean wouldn't links directing members to some off site chat room be sort of like McDonalds directing it's own customers to Burger King?

You guys&girls need to be more creative. You can use the Chitchat forum and start a topic there. E.g. "Slow Chat". You can chat over there in slow motion.
