Left Hemisphere

According to the SPECT scan I just had done, Cymbalta is treating the problems in the right hemisphere of my brain, but not doing so well with the problems in my left. I've tried all the prescribed meds. What else can I try? I'm so depressed.

Re: Left Hemisphere

Did they do scans before and after treatment?
Do you have an ADHD diagnosis?

I'm in Melbourne too.

Re: Left Hemisphere

SPECT = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single-...ted_tomography

It is the commonly used imaging technology for ADD/ADHD.

I had to go all the way to Perth to have the scan done. It supported the diagnosis of Limbic ADD that I was given. I didn't have a scan done beforehand, but my anxiety is pretty much non-existent, whilst on Cymbalta, as are most abnormalities around the Limbic System, in the right hemisphere (the areas currently thought to be associated with anxiety). So, I am only assuming that the Cymblata is helping with the right side. Though, whatever the case, Cymbalta does help, but the left side of my Limbic System is still practically dormant. I still feel lethargic, depressed and brain foggy most of the time.

SPECT scans look at blood flow/activity in the brain. It's different from MRIs. MRIs look at structure, while SPECT looks at function.
