Wellbutrin vs other meds
Hi I tried 100mg wellbutrin SR for the first time today.
I paid extra $35 to get the brand name version. Previous meds that I have taken includes: provigil, st. john's wort, adderall, strattera provigil gave me insonmia and headache st. john's wort gave me too much energy and tachycardia adderall (even at 5mg) gave me hypertension, tachycardia and hyperactivity strattera gave me speediness, tachycardia and headache All 4 of drugs did not help me at all with my ADHD. And the history shows that I am super-sensitve to stimulants. Today, I took my first dosage. I was in class and all the sudden I was focused in the lecture. I gazed into the professor's eyes and listened to him for the first time. I did not feel motivated to do stuff (i.e. clean my house or organize), but just pure concentration to what I was doing. When I got home, I still felt unmotivated. I wasn't necessarily sped up on wellbutrin and I wasn't calm neither. And most importantly, my bp and pulse are within normal limits! Is this how most people feel on wellbutrin? I've searched this forum and I wasn't able to find so much positive feedback on wellbutrin compared to adderall, strattera and ritalin. |

Re: Wellbutrin vs other meds
Personally, I feel like that on Adderall. However I am currently on Wellbutrin in addition to my Adderall, and I started taking Wellbutrin around 2 months before I started taking Adderall.
Wellbutrin is interesting because it's not quiet a stimulant, but it has many stimulant like qualities. Wellbutrin works very well as an anti-depressant (which is what it was originally designed for) but they also found that Wellbutrin is also a good treatment for many other illnesses. Because Wellbutrin is stimulant-like it tends to cause what you felt. I remember that's how I felt the first week I started taking it. However, because Wellbutrin builds up in the body (like SSRI's or other such drugs) you will NOT feel that same feeling forever. Those effects only lasted (maybe) 5 or 6 days for me, and then it was just like taking any other pill. Amphetamines on the other hand, are in and out of the body very quickly. Which is why you always feel its effects. Personally, my combo that I take for ADHD (Adderall XR, Intuniv, and Wellbutrin XL) is absolutely perfect. I'm not saying that combo will for sure work for you (drugs effect everyone differently) but I would ask your doctor about adding back in Strattera or Intuniv. I can tell that you don't really like stimulant medications, however I'd give them another chance. It's been proven that stimulants are the most effective way of treating ADHD.

Re: Wellbutrin vs other meds
I am so sensitive to adderall, I can't even take 1.25mg because I feel so stimulated. strattera gave me headaches
. Only one that hasn't given me headache is wellbutrin (1 day) so far and I kinda want to try out ritalin, but I will stick with wellbutrin if it works well enough for me. |
