scary s**t
i've been having panic attacks consistently now for the last ten days (i have had these before but not so regularly) its like everything becomes too much and my brain shuts down
its not the new meds as it seems to be happening with or without, especially if im somewhere new or im alone or near strangers.. i wonder whether its a delayed reaction to all of the things that have been happening this year but its leaving me terrified and exhausted...my doctor and consultant have agreed that i shouldnt be working for a time now and that when i do it will be reintroduced incrementally, im not coping anymore....i feel like i've lost everything and im so afraid

Re: scary s**t
Same ol' same old. I still can't seem to get school work done. My meds seem to be working in so far as I'm not depressed, but I have no, none, nada, motivation to do anything. I think, to a point, I'm just burnt out and ready for a change. That, and all the anxiety that goes along with either of my two choices (school, or finding a job).
I'm out of money, so that's more stress. I just need to figure out where to take the next step. It's so much easier to just pretend life isn't real and hang-out here. I know that isn't an option though. It's also getting cold, the sun goes down too soon (way too soon for those of use who don't like to get out of bed until noon). At least I have some yummy Chinese food to keep me warm tonight. ![]() |

Flory, I am right there with ya, but you are lucky your docs are forcing a break on you... It's a horrible place to be... Not sure how to get past it... yet

I always feared that one day my brain would just zap. Talk to some one else that can help you not those that brought you to this. As for not coping, don't let go, you seem like a nice person its ashame this happened to you, just close your eyes and let your troubles flow away on little boats before you entertain them. Feel really bad for ya kid hang in there. the suns gota shine after the rain. your time is still to come, youll grab life by the balls just you gotta first over come |

Re: scary s**t
I know you're having a rough time ......and this is just more of the same huh ? .....it gets old fast though .......you just want to be OVER IT !!!!!
but it takes time ....and that is hard to deal with when you're hurting ...... when things got bad for me.....I would retreat into a book.....sci-fi, or mysteries, something as far removed from my life as possible, so I wouldn't compare...you know ....some books, the people in it are just too good at life, and that starts to make me feel even more incompetant .... sci-fi and fantasy, that's the ticket .... my world would be crashing around me, and there was nothing i could do to stop it ....so I'd hide under the bed so to speak, and read .....their world was much more interesting, or better known as escaping .....some people do movies, but I can't pay attention to a whole movie ......I can't just sit and watch TV or in a theater...( unless it's live) but a book ..... have you ever tried that ?

Re: scary s**t
it could be a delayed reaction. You've had a tough year. You've done great but maybe your body and brain need a break. Huge hugs.

Re: scary s**t
Flory sorry to hear this, have you learned how to cope with panic attacks. I used to have them and was able to "train myself" to deal better with them.
Most importantly when I had one coming on and just sort of went with the flow, I acknowledged that it was about to happen, rather than ignore or pretend and hope that it wasn´t. Acknowledge that you are scared but it´s the panic attack doing that, you know it can´t hurt you. During a panic attack you feel the worst, but the worst is already happening, so try to accept that you are having one and know for certain it will pass. Don´t try to fight it, just accept it. I know it´s hard but try not to live in fear of them coming. Luckily I didn´t have them for very long, it seemed that once I started telling myself that it is only a panic attack, it can´t hurt me, it will pass, they stopped. |

Re: scary s**t
hugs. I also suffer from panic attacks and know how scary and draining they can be.
Squarepeg gave some good advice which is also what I have been trying to do recently. Hope they subside soon |

Re: scary s**t
If we are over manipulating ourselves, are we really doing it just to be us? After all, being a "scatter brain" is us, isn't it?

Re: scary s**t
Sorry to hear this, Flory. My panic attacks are like yours - they hit AFTER things have calmed down. So disturbing. I'm so sorry that is where you are right now. Sending you energy for strength. Have you tried meditation? I find it so calming, but it takes me a while to get back in to where it does me any good.
My pdoc has given me Klonipin (small doses) to get me through the worst of the panic... do you have anything like that to take the level down so you could do some behavioral work (calming techniques, yoga, etc.)? HUGS to you.
