Re: Whoa! My dog just ate my Adderall!!!
My Chihuahua ate a 30mg Addie. I think. Is this fatal. She seems ok except she has some real energy like never before. She seems.calm though when i talk to.her. its like she decided to listen to me all of a sudden. I'm praying and hoping I just miscounted .
Reason I became so alarmed was of her facial expression. If you've ever seen the music video to black hole sun with those geeked out face lift smiles thats what my dog looked like Please help poison control animal experts want to help out with there life saving info. But there is nothing that can be done unless I have a major credit card. In an event like this would giving her a shotgun of some O.G kush be inhumane I like to joke in moments of peril to keep from crying. |

Re: Whoa! My dog just ate my Adderall!!!
I think you should call a vet and ask them. Poison control wont tell you what you should do?
If they think you should make the dog throw up, here is how to do it. Give them a tiny bit of peroxide and some water. That is what i had to do when my chihuahua ate a whole bag of chocolates. Otherwise i suppose just wait it out....gosh i think they should make a recommendation to you though! Yes i have seen that video. I love that song, by the way. I adore Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. My chihuahua ate an instant release ritalin of mine once, I was getting it out of the bottle and dropped it, and he swan dived it, i guess he thought it was some tasty treat. I called the vet and they said to watch him but he would probably be fine. It didnt seem to affect him. I, too, thought it sounded like something someone might use for a weird excuse, as "I would have done it but the dog ate my medicine." |

Re: Whoa! My dog just ate my Adderall!!!
I'd call a vet. I think you'll be ok, considering that humans have taken significantly higher doses illegally for abusive purposes and haven't died from such use (talking a one-time thing here, not habitual use). I'd be more concerned if the dog was old or has known heart problems... that's when there is likely a risk of a fatal reaction.
It's not the med itself that you need to worry about, so much as the possible adverse reactions. A vet would be familiar with the effect of a stimulant on a dog, or at least have a better idea what to watch for. If caught immediately, you could always induce vomiting... but it's too late for that now. Personally, I would have dumped a bottle of vinegar down my dog's throat since acidic substances are known to reduce the amount of amphetamine absorbed; but again, it's been too long for that to make a difference now. You have to be careful what you give to your pets. I suggest vinegar, but I don't know for certain if vinegar is safe for a dog. You never know what will hurt a pet without doing a little research first. For example, onions and garlic are highly toxic to cats. That's why it's best to always contact a vet unless you have a lot of information already at your fingertips and know what you are doing. Not that it hurts to post here, as you never know when a vet or vet-tech will be around to answer such a question. I personally have little knowledge on this. Good luck! |

Re: Whoa! My dog just ate my Adderall!!!
I think if my Jack Russell I had years ago took it she'd calm down.
If I find a pill on the ground that's been there for quite a while, I bin it.

Re: Whoa! My dog just ate my Adderall!!!
As long as the dog doesn't start looking like this:
![]() You (and the dog) will probably be fine. 30mg XR is a high dose for a small dog. It's a good thing that the drug isn't as dangerous as some of the anti-medication seem to believe. Some drugs are safe in humans are very dangerous in non-human animals, as already stated. I think in many, if not most, of these cases, the drug is metabolized in a slightly different way, yielding more toxic metabolites (that are often toxic in humans as well but are not normally produced as a result of exposure to the drug in question). Acetaminophen in cats is a very good example. Acetaminophen causes methemoglobinemia in cats, which isn't a major surprise as 4-aminophenol (a known inducer of methemoglobinemia and substructure of more potent inducers) is a substructure of acetaminophen. Humans and dogs metabolize this drug differently, so this isn't an issue (other toxicities become dominant). So I would think that in all cases of a drug ingestion (unless of course you are already aware of the dangers), seeking assistance from those with specific knowledge of your species of pet is critical.

Re: Whoa! My dog just ate my Adderall!!!
My dog chewed my bottled of Concerta one time and I found 54mg pills everywhere and freaked. I called the vet and they mad us give him .......recalling from memory here......table salt mixed with water I believe.
I do remember he threw up very quickly and there were no pills and we had to make him throw up again ten minutes later and still no pills. We watched him closely the rest of the day and he was fine and I made sure not to leave my pill bottle on the end table ![]()
