Yeah, but horoscope writers are trained to write horoscopes that can seem oddly specific to your life but in reality it fits in to very common situations that millions of others are going through at a specific time. I looked through some random ones and realized that now that I looked that they're a lot more one size fit all-ish than I thought.

Yes that is what a barnum statement is... and i agree, horoscopes and correlations personality types are completely separate arguments, horoscopes have no scientific basis whatsoever.

Wow, this is an old thread.

The poll results showing us fairly evenly distributed among the signs goes to show that ADHD isn't a personality type (if that's what signs are supposed to mean), which would make perfect sense because people with ADHD all vary in their own personalities. I wonder if having a different subtype would make a difference.. then again, probably not much difference.

I am new here and an astrology amateur. When an astrological chart is drawn up, the planet Mercury represents communication+ and how the brain-mind works; what it's personality is like. Even though I am a Taurus Sun, my Mercury is in Gemini, next to my Moon in Gemini too. Mercury in Gemini and Aries make brains work fast, maybe too fast. It all depends on other planets, Aspects to other planets, and all the other factors in a person's life: Genetics, cultural-family environment, diet, emotional trauma...past life issues, etc.

As someone interested in astrophysics and science fiction when I think about how astrology could be explained from a scientific point of view - my head explodes.

Usually, I'd be all smug n like 'the movements of the planets have no effect whatsoever on humans.'

But if I just went with some basic physics principles and threw out a bunch of technobabble about how this interferes with people brains on Earth, changing behavior and thus making events happen on Earth.

It's no wonder people say I'm schizophrenic. I read far too many conspiracy sites that delve into alternate theories and I adapt it to my science fiction.

But I'm at least open minded now.
