I didn't see it but I read about. Seems like whatever the call was, the fans reaction really screwed things up. Nothing like a 20 minute debris cleanup delay to liven things up.

I'm sure you'll see plenty of video. It was a popup that could have been caught by the St. Louis shortstop or left-fielder, but both of them just stood there and watched it hit the ground. The ump ruled it an 'infield fly,' and the folks in the stands started tossing trash all over the field. I have a feeling that umpire got quite the police escort to his car after the game.

It was ugly. I was ashamed to be a Braves fan last night.

Although in the end, the Braves pretty much took themselves out anyway. Poor Chipper. What a game to go out on after such a great season.

Go 'anyone but St. Louis!'

Woo hoo! I don't *really* have a horse in this race, but I think I'm going to have to lend my allegiance to the team that spanked the Yankees out of the playoffs. That Detroit sweep was quite satisfying. . .

yes - vengeance from when the Twins (back in the days when they could actually play baseballl...) were eliminated by the Yankees, every time!

I've liked Jim Leyland since the days when he wore a Pirates uniform... back when Bonds was clean; Bobby Bonilla and Andrew Van Slyke filled the other "slugger" spots. Back when the Pittsburgh Pirates had a winning season before twenty years of shame.

Fair enough. I have to say that I usually do go for the drama and pull for the underdogs (and the O's were the perpetual underdogs the entire season, so it's been fun watching those 1-run games and extra-innings shenanigans). . .

*but* I'm also genetically predestined to hate the Yankees for so many reasons, hence my homage to the team that handed them their notice.

LOL, did they actually move, or did AT&T buy the naming rights to the stadium?

You can always tell the old-timers in DC b/c they still refer to the Verizon Center as the MCI center, even though it hasn't been that for years. This kind of shyat always reminds me of Snow Crash.
