Hi, Lisa!

Wondering how long you have had a diagnosis for your son?

One of my best friends has a female child (now in her twenties) with behavioral disorders that were apparent even as a TODDLER... ...

Unfortunately, this was her first child, born over twenty years ago, and people kept telling her she would "grow out of it".

She didn't "grow out of it"...in fact, her behavior problems multiplied exponentially as she grew older...and just getting a handle on, and a description of her issues has been a painful uphill battle.

As frightening and worrisome as I'm sure it's been for you and your family, it sounds like you have tried to identify and deal with what life has brought you.

Kudos to you for recognizing and making an effort to help yourselves come to terms with your son's aggression management and treatment.

I hope you find relief and compassion through sharing your experience, and learning from others here.

Hi, Stuck. Thank you!! He was dx'd in May of 2003, when he was 7 years old. He's had a lot of behavioral issues since he was very young, but they seem to be getting worse, as he is getting older. I can totally relate, to what you were saying, as getting a handle on it all, has been very difficult, with the severe ADHD/combined type, and then being compounded with the ODD, and IED. We take it day-by-day, as each day, is very difficult. We took him off his meds, because he was losing weight, so he is med free, and has a lot of spurts where he is extremely hyper. Thank you for being understanding and supportive!!

Hi, Jill (Nick's mom). Thank you for the welcome. I am glad the infomation I posted, was useful. Hopefully, if he has IED, they can give you some suggestions, or maybe prescribe something, to help with his rages. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Take care!
Lisa
