Cool Sandi---Florida

Greetings to all!

This sure looks like a friendly and supportive place to hang out my with my fellow ADDer's.

I'm 38, recently divorced (yep, ADD played a big part), no kids or pets, a few plants, lots of books, music... I've known I was a little "unusual" for most of my life and so far ADD seems to describe my brain wiring better than anything else. Online tests, and just yesterday confirmation by a real live (as opposed to not alive) shrink describes me as the "inattentive type" without hyperactivity.

Fortunately I'm blessed, (I think) with a good sense of humor and growing understanding of all it means to have/be ADD. I just started on Strattera (second day) and I've been very, very sleeepppy, but I'm sure that will wear off.

I've got high hopes that with medication and the right support, I will be able to contribute what I was meant to contribute to the world. In other words, I have been a classic, chronic underachiever, full of great ideas (no, really great ideas, but more easily derailed than a freight train full of hmmm, well, something easily derailed....

My commitment is stronger than it's ever been and part of that is reaching out and supporting others with what I know to be true---for one thing that ADD, when its extremes are managed, can be a very very cool thing!

Thanks to the folks who created this website....it's a beautiful thing!

Welcome Sandi! Being dx'ed as inattentive without hyperactivity myself, I know who positive it felt when I first started to come to an understanding and start treatment!
