Re: ADHD-Inattentive, hyperfocus and hypofocus?
I find it interesting that some people who have ADHD-Inattentive, hyperfocus excessively and are hyperreactive even though they do not appear hyperactive.

Re: ADHD-Inattentive, hyperfocus and hypofocus?
Inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity are normal early childhood traits, that people normally gain more self-control of, as higher neocortical self-regulation matures.
Could the differences in presentation between ADHD-Inattentive and ADHD-Hyperactive/Implulsive be partly due to the way we learn to respond to our own anxiety/threats (perceived or real) during our early childhood experiences? Example, if a child often responded by freezing (does not move), during the freeze or flight distress response, may the child exercise and retain more ADHD inattentive symptoms? But if the same child often responded by flighting (moves/runs away), during the freeze or flight distress response, may the child exercise and retain more hyperactive/impulsive symptoms? (Or something in between in regards to a person with ADHD-Combined presentation?) (Individual temperament and individual circumstances also being decisive factors in which way the child learns to respond to distresses, and how many times the child experiences and exercises the freeze or flight distress response system, during the child’s daily activities) (Could experiencing abnormally high anxiety/threats (real or perceived), interfere with the early development of higher neocortical self-control, and even strengthen lower subcortical freeze or flight distress response systems?) M

Indeed, so please do so.
Why do you think in such a black-and-white manner? Thanks, Ian

Re: ADHD-Inattentive, hyperfocus and hypofocus?
It's a spectrum, just like everything else.
Some people hyperfocus excessively. Some people hypofocus excessively. Most fall somewhere in between doing something excessively and not doing it all. The only thing that ALL people do is breathe ... until they stop doing that.

Well, damn, I actually held out hope you'd answer the question asked, so I guess that makes me the fool.
Cheers, Ian

hyperfocus excessively? Do I think it's interesting that SOME people who have ADHD-Inattentive hypofocus excessively? I suppose I would find this more interesting if it was something that I did "excessively." Do I do them more often than neuro-typical people? Probably. But I don't think I do either one excessively.

I agree. The term “excessively” may be excessive for some people. M
