Exclamation how do i get diagnosed?

Hi so im pretty sure i have ADD, to save time i wont list everything that makes me think i have it but something hasn't felt right forever. I've tried CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy, general therapy, counselling. Nothing has gotten rid of this "feeling". I can relate to nearly every single symptom and ways it has effected my life in certain areas of course its daily but yeah... Im having a hard time explaining myself,I've tried online tests and "passed" them all.

I tried going to my GP today to try and get a refer all to someone who specialises in add/adhd. But i was basically told its hard to diagnose and maybe its just my personality said they will look into who could try and help me but i don't know i just got the overall feeling that she just didn't know what to do i was in her office for 3 minutes! She was just unming and arring whilst i explained stmymotoms but it isn't its just a part of me id rather get rid of or keep under control I've finally found the answer and now its like i just had a door slammed in my face,

So where do i go? Please help because i cant live like this anymore

I hope that's not your mobile number as your username. Not a good idea to share something like that so openly online.

Re: how do i get diagnosed?

Can't help w/ navigating your medical system. I's sure one of the brits will come by to help. What I would do in addition to obtaining an evaluation is prep yourself for it. Throw together a list of problems/symptoms that have interfered w/ your life. For each one add a real-life incident to document/weight them and what the negative impact to you was. Has to be actual occurrence and not suppositional. Keep the list around to document occurrences as they happen. If like me remembering later on can be difficult. Then take a look at ADHD diagnostic criteria and see if you maybe missed some and add them to your list w/ actual occurrences. Then Google your list to see if there are any other disorders that maybe you are unaware of. Look at diagnostic criteria and repeat process. Polish the list and provide to your eventual Doc beforehand so him/her can prep for your first visit. GL HTH, -LN

Re: how do i get diagnosed?

Go back to your gp and insist that they refer you to a psychiatrist. GPs can neither diagnose nor rule out ADHD so they have to refer you. The waiting time to see an NHS psychiatrist can be long. A few months usually. You could see someone privately. Being in London there are quite a few good psychiatrists who specialise in ADHD I think.
