ADD or SCT or ADHD-PI? (Which label do you prefer?)

Since technically all of these labels are the same thing.

Which inattentive label do you prefer?

(See poll)

Re: ADD or SCT or ADHD-PI? (Which label do you prefer?)

Technically I don't have the SCT symptoms.

But I find the differences in labeling confusing.

ADD or ADHD ?

ADHD-PI or ADHD-H/I ?

ADD or ADHD-PI ?

I guess I don't like any of them.

With Autism they've gone to a labeling system of level 1, 2 or 3 depending
on how impaired one is by the autism. And that's confusing.

The only thing I like is that all forms of ADHD may be mild, moderate, or severe.

I think SCT is more severe ADD/ADHD-PI, since ADD/ADHD-PI/SCT are the same thing.

Re: ADD or SCT or ADHD-PI? (Which label do you prefer?)

I know this has been discussed to death in other threads but I'm pretty sure that according to Barkley sct and adhd pi are not the same. ADHD pi is similar to ADHD combined except that you have more inattentive symptoms rather than hyperactive and impulsive symptoms..if I remember correctly sct is fundamentally different because there is an issue with processing information accurately and swiftly, which is not there in ADHD (pi, c or h).

I prefer the term adhd-pi. I don't like add at all though I'm not sure why.

Re: ADD or SCT or ADHD-PI? (Which label do you prefer?)

I identify with SCT, but I'd rather have a different label, so I voted "other"

That being said I would like to go more to a label based on internal causes, rather than external symptoms. Since all these labels go by external symptoms they all wont do for me.

I dont agree that the labels are all the same thing or that the way you have previously described them all so I guess I cant vote.

You believe that, and keep repeating that, but it doesn’t make it true, and you are wrong.

This is a support forum, so the fact you are continually repeating misinformation is antithetical to the spirit and purpose of this community.

---

SCT is a proposed disorder, but does not exist in the DSM or ICD.

ADD is a now-obsolete term from a long-outdated version of the DSM.

ADHD-PI is a now-obsolete term from the previous version of the DSM.

Ian

Re: ADD or SCT or ADHD-PI? (Which label do you prefer?)

Honestly, it doesn't matter to me.
Whatever you want to call it, I have a diagnosis and treatment that's working.

In French it's all TDAH, "trouble du déficit de l'attention avec ou sans hyperactivité "
which is "Attention deficit disorder, with or without hyperactivité".

Thanks for the French translation, I'd wondered about what it was called in French (since I live in a French-speaking country) but never had bothered to try to find out what the translation might be.
