Moderation Questions

Can I start different mathematical related question threads, in the science section?

I really like discussing topics using math.

Math makes me pull my hair out.

If the math has some connection to ADHD you should be good to go.

Sure -- as long as the topics are distinct, and do not relate to the overlap/distinction between ADD, SCT, and ADHD, since we're discussing that in existing active threads already.

I appreciate you answering this question.

For future discussion in general.

Do you think it is fair that you are moderating and participating/disagreeing in these thread discussions?

For future discussions?

Re: Moderation

As a preface: I split these posts off from the thread in which they were originally posted and moved them to this new thread. The Forums Q&A section is a more appropriate section for these questions than a thread about SCT.

I am both a member of ADDF and a volunteer moderator -- as are all of the moderators here.

I often participate in threads as a member.

When I moderate, I generally try to post in green or write "moderator note" to distinguish my participation as a moderator from my participation as a member.

We moderators try very hard to treat all members fairly and to enforce site guidelines fairly.

Sometimes it is possible to participate in a thread as both a moderator and a member. (It is even possible to disagree with someone civilly, without it becoming personal or rancorous.) However, if I cannot moderate a thread fairly because I am too deeply involved in it to be impartial, I will recuse myself and another moderator will step in.

We are not perfect, and there are situations where questions may arise. If at some point you feel that your posts are not being moderated fairly, please contact the site administrators, Andi and Andrew, via PM.
