Problems with Receiving Email Notifications!

For some reason I am no longer receiving any Email notifications for replys to my posts.

I was receiving them just fine for a long time, but for some reason which is a mystery to me, I am now no longer receiving any Email notifications for the posts I make.

I've tried changing various "options" in my (CP) "Control Panel", but nothing I have done has made any difference!

I did a search for "email" and I didn't get any search results for this particular problem, however I may have not been using the correct search word for the issue I'm having.

I also sent a message from "here on ADD Forums website" to the Administrators directly, but I didn't received a response/reply from the Administrators regarding this issue, therefore, I don't know what the problem is!

I hate to appear stupid, but, one of the "Options" in Control Panel that I seem a little uncertain of, or unclear about, is the option I've copied below.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Receive Email
--------------
From time to time, the administrators may want to send you email notices.

If you do not want to receive these notices, disable this option.

[ ] Receive Email from Administrators
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the above "Control Panel Option" setting:
If I do not wish to receive administrator notices, It says to "disable this option"!!

So, if I place a check mark in the box next to "Receive Email from Administrators" am I "Disabling" the option, or am I "Enabling" the option? LOL

In other words, does placing a check mark next to the option indicate that I "Will" "Receive Email from Administrators", or does it mean that I am "Disabling" the option, and I will not "Receive Email from Administrators"??

You know, now that I think about it, perhaps a phrase such as "Yes, I would like to receive Email from Administrators" or "No, I do not want to receive Email from Administrators" would be a little clearer for this particular option, would it not?

This is the only "CP Option" setting that I find a little confusing, and to be quite honest, I never gave it a second thought until I stopped receiving my Email notifications, which obviously led me to review my CP options and to very carefully scrutinize (Perhaps Over-scrutinize) all of the settings I had set.

I believe I originally had the Administrator Email option unchecked, but, as you can see, I've eventually found myself so bogged down with the symantics used for this particular option, that now I don't know if I was enabling it, or disabling it, by placing a check mark next to it.

However, when I stopped receiving my email notifications, I changed it to Checked, which is how it is currently set, but I am still not receiving any Email notifications for my posts.

So, now I'm confused and don't know which way I should have it set, (Checked or Un-Checked).

Therefore, I guess what I really would like to know is would this particular "CP Option" have any effect on whether I would receive Email notifications for my posts, and could this be the reason (Having it checked) as to why I didn't receive a response/reply to the message I sent to the Administrators (Using the message system here on the ADD Forums website) regarding my Email notifications problem?

I currently have the option Checked!, which I think means I will "Receive Email from Administrators"! LOL However, I could be mistaken! LOL

If anyone has any information regarding this issue, I would greatly appreciate in assistance you may have!

Thanks,
*~ žEEK ~*

I just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone in your confusion. And to let you know that this also happended to me a while back.....for me whatever the problem was it straightened itself out. I also have the Option in my personal email set to where I receive alerts on my cell when I get a Notification.

Your suggestion about the "Yes" "No" I think is excellent. Alot of people, like me, can't seem to comprehend some of the most basic things that are part of this Technology. And the harder we try the less we comprehend......or maybe it is just me.

Oh, bless you BlessedLady! I am very relieved!
I was begining to worry that I was over-analyzing the CP options, or being overly critical of the wording that they chose to use.

Perhaps it might make you feel a little better to know that, I have ADD and Dsylexia both, and I'm just one class (A History class which I'm terrible at.) short of a degree in computer science, 20 hours shy of a degree in Hospital Administration, and I have worked in Radiology (A highly "Technological" field) for 20 years, so I really don't think you were necessarily miscomprehending it due to any psychological issue, or your education level.
I just think it's a little on the vague side, thats all.

Isn't it odd how we tend to consistantly think that it's only "Us" not understanding, and not some other issue unrelated to us personally? I really could use some work on that problem!

Anyway, now if I can just get someone to help me resolve my Email Notification dilemma, I'll be happier than a two tailed puppy!
Thanks again for responding!

Peace,

You are a SweetHeart ! I have a Medical-Legal background but I stayed home after hubby required Medical care at home & we had 6 kids. Then when the time came where I thought I could return to work, I had a accident at home & haven't been able to return to work in recent yrs. I can't say the Technology is new to me but it seems as soon as I half way figure out something they come out with a New & Improved Version, which isn't usually bad just means to me I have to start all over again. And I was so use to doing everything "the old fashioned way"....just seems like it's too easy...ie must be something I'm not getting. Know what I mean?

Isn't it odd how we tend to consistantly think that it's only "Us" not understanding, and not some other issue unrelated to us personally? I really could use some work on that problem!

You aren't alone on this either.

Have you checked your spam/buk mail folder? Aslo, I have been talking to a lot of people latley who have been having trouble in general recieving emails. I think some ISPs and email hosts have the spam filters set way too high.

Greetings Tara!
Thank you for replying! Oh, and BTW, I really enjoyed reading your (Blog) page the other day!
Ok, lets see, regarding my Spam Filter/Folders, I've had the ADD Forums Email server set up as "Trusted", and to "Let All Email From ADD Forums Thru, No Matter What", since the very first Email I recieved on 04/02/2006 (The 1st day I became a member) in my Spam blocking rules, and "ALL" Emails from the ADD Forums were coming thru fine up until 04/21/2006 when "ALL" Email notifications abruptly stopped.
Just like you asked, I immediately started checking my spam folder on 04/22 or 04/23 (Or whenever it was that I first realized I was no longer receiving any Email Notifications) and I've checked everyday since, but there has never been any Email notifications from the ADD Forums since 04/21.

Spam filters set way too high??? LMAO <-- I really Laughed out Loud (LOUDLY) on that one!!! If my ISP has any Spam blocking filters on at ALL I would be incredibly surprised!!! LOL Thanks for the great laugh! I'm not being sarcastic or rude to you, (Really!!) I actually found that quite amusing after spending a moment or two seriously comtemplating whether or not my ISP was filtering it out! Then I finally came to my senses, and started laughing so loud that my GF came into the room and wanted to know what I was so funny!
Seriously though, I once was receiving a enormous amount of Spam, and to be perfectly honest I still receive way more than anyone really should! In fact, that was exactly the reason I set up my own Spam filter/blocking, since my ISP didn't seem to filter anything at all!!! I've received so many Spam Emails for increasing my size (If ya know what I mean), to prolonging it (Viagra), to refinacing my home, to investing in stocks, to buying authentic Rolex watches, to that special someone waiting just to meet me (at I love big stocks dot com) that I find it nearly inconceivable that my ISP has turned a new leaf and is now blocking all that stuff! LOL In fact, I know they aren't because I still receive it, and I have never responded, replied, asked to be removed, signed up for, or requested to receive any of that bologna! LOL

Opps, that wasn't tooooo naughty above was it Tara! Please delete it if it is, ok? I was just trying to be funny!

However, I must admit, I certainly cannot completely rule out that my ISP could be blocking my Email from the ADD Forums just yet.

But, before I jump all the way to that seemingly unimaginable conclusion, I really need to find out whether my own settings in the Control Panel's options has anything to do with it, or if the change to the new server has anything to do with it, before I can call up my ISP and complain.
The fact that I have never received a reply to the message I sent directly to the Admins from the ADD Forums webpage seems a little strange. However, I really wouldn't know what to expect "Time-wise" for a reply from the ADD Forums Admins, or if I should even expect one at all! LOL
Perhaps I've been to impatient. How long does it usually take to get a reply? And again, what if I have the CP options below set wrong?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Receive Email
--------------
From time to time, the administrators may want to send you email notices.

If you do not want to receive these notices, disable this option.

[ ] Receive Email from Administrators
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, again thanks for replying Tara, I really do apprecaite Any suggestions from any of the long time users on the ADD Forums, because I'm certainly still to "new" to the forums to know whether or not it's something I have done wrong or not!
Well, I'm off to bed! I gotta work the nightshift tonight and I've piddled around in the forums for so long that I'm gonna be running on only a couple of hours of sleep tonight! Yikes I hate when I do dumb stuff like that!
Take care and thanks!

Yep, I hate the rapid changes that take place all of the time! Especially, when I don't have any interest in it, and yet I still have to learn it anyway! Yuck!
Well off to bed for a few hours of ZZZZzzzZZZZs, I gotta work tonight!
Take care BlessedLady and thanks for writing me!

Even though he required Medical Care at home after our 6th was born. It was a MVA that was the reason, technology progressed to a point where he could finally have some necessary surgery he required to return to work. Strange as it may sound to some people, our 6 children gave us what we needed ( together & individually) when things really got to us to not give up.
BTW, he has ADD & hadn't taken meds since he was a kid. But when I was dx in 1997 & put on meds he also got back on them. 3 of our 6 kids have ADHD.

Problem/issue Resolved

This problem/issue is now resolved! Yeehaw!!!

For some reason, yesterday out of blue, exactly a month after they stooped, I again started receiving "Email Notifications" for my posts!

Perhaps I was suspended for a month due to bad behavior or something! LOL
Either way, I'm very happy it's working again!!!

Thank you "Whomever", or "Whatever", fixed the problem!

That's because you are a BAD girl!!! LOL

Ok seriously, I'm not sure if this is what made a difference for me, but check your options in Control Panel and the section titled "Receive Email": (See below)

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Receive Email
--------------
From time to time, the administrators may want to send you email notices.

If you do not want to receive these notices, disable this option.

[X] Receive Email from Administrators
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Be sure you have a check mark in the box "Receive Email from Administrators"! Then wait for the new month to roll over (Or 1 month after you make the change) and see if you start receiving your email notifications!

This "Receive Email from Administrators" setting was the only setting that I found a little confusing! However, you should probably review all the settings in your control panel options just to be on the safe side!

As I said, I don't know if that made any difference or not, but I am now receiving email notifications for my posts!

I'm sorry tracy this is the only thing I can come up with that may help you!
Please post again here if this solves your problem, ok??
Thx
Good luck!

Peace,
