Re: What do you think of forum moderators

I think the mods here do a great job. Think about it. The mods on these particular forums are dealing with thousands of members, all of which are disordered to various degrees. I frankly can't believe how well everyone seems to get along, and that is a testament to some extent to the moderators that keep things going smoothly. I've also noticed that spam here disappears much faster than any other forum that I've ever been on, something I myself appreciate very much.

At times the mods have to hand down some warnings, or whatever disciplinary measures are needed. I have had a couple of warnings myself, though it has been a while back, and they were deserved. If you are questioned or reprimanded by a mod, chances are you deserve it. They have better things to do with their lives than hand out warnings to keep people, and the forums as a whole, in line.

I think that mods have a thankless job and often have shots taken at them. They don't get paid for what they do. It takes time away from their own personal lives, and focus, something the mods here likely lack in their personal lives to whatever extent anyway, as the nature of the ADD beast. I couldn't do it myself. The abuse they often take from members, the passive aggressive comments that are made about them at times, etc., along with being volunteer work, would drive me up a wall.

So I give major props to anyone that can do the job, and those that volunteer for it and just can't handle it. No shame in that. Trying to be a good volunteer to help out a community of people that need it is a very noble thing.

Oh, and another thing that I personally like here is that the mods cite forum rules when they have to get something back in line. They do a good job of trying to keep things on topic as well, something many ADDers obviously would have a problem doing.

As a member of many forums, I find the mods here to be some of the best. Even if I might not agree with something they do at the time, it doesn't hurt anything and usually works out for the best, so who can argue with that.

Re: What do you think of forum moderators

Thank you for your feedback Mike.

I personally couldn't be a moderator for this forum due to the sensitive nature of topics discussed on here at times and even as a member I've had shots taken at me especially recently just for expressing my views which I'm still trying to get past so in that respect it cuts both ways.

I too think most of the moderators on here do a very good job and I think some relinquish that role because it is time consuming and at times draining and I know for a fact that one moderator and friend of mine relinqished her role purely because of this which would partly explain why there is such a high turnover of moderators on this forum and no doubt many other forums too, I believe that this job is harder than people are aware and people need to consider that at times, the other things people need to be totally aware of is that it is an UNPAID position!

So yes moderating can be a hard life at times so to speak.

FrazzleDazzle.

It's good when they clean up any 'messes' but sometimes venty messages help others too.

Re: What do you think of forum moderators

well, I like the mods. they are really nice and are basically like members except with more authority. I know there are a lot, but thats good because that means one is usually online so if you have any questions you can contact them.

Re: What do you think of forum moderators

Who are these moderators? Where are they? What do they do? Can you see their reflections in mirrors?

Re: What do you think of forum moderators

Moderators are the people that keep this forum going, they are the people who keep people in line when necessary, they are the peacekeepers, the advisors and the like.

They're everywhere..lol ok seriously they are the people whose usernames are highlighted in dark green (general moderators) bright yellow (super moderators) and blinding red (admin staff)

Can I see their reflection in the mirror...if I could I'd be scared...LOL

Re: What do you think of forum moderators

I just wanted to thank admin and the many moderators for the continuing efforts made to keep these forums a safe place for us all to land for support and encouragement and respectable exchange of information and ideas. Your efforts, particularly towards recent peace, have been noticed and greatly appreciated.

Respectfully,
FrazzleD

Frazzle, you never know when something you say is exactly what someone else needs to hear. Thank you for saying exactly what I needed to hear and when I needed to hear it.
