Hello all
I need some help, I'm really not sure what i have, since I was young parents and friends noticed not able to focus and pay attention is school or class or able to do my homework. I never took any medications until i was in my senior year in college. my grades moved from Cs to As and Bs, not sure if it was the medication or me more responsible, in present, I been on ADD medication for almost 4 years, I tried so many of them if not all of them, currently i'm using Vyvanse. I still suffer the following 1- Fatigue big time, I'm ok the first 5-6 hours 2- with or without med i suffer Fatigue and tiredness 3- I stopped liking what i used to do, from playing games or going out, even my wife of 2 years noticed that i dont like doing stuff and i like spending time at home, i dont like doing stuff that involve thinking, even video games that involve thinking. 4- not able to finish work i started or project. even i stopped caring doing the back yard. or finishing cabling and networking in my house. 5- Did i mention stopped doing things i like to do. 6- alot things stopped interest me. WHen I'm on medication like i said first 5 hours it all good to me but after 5 hours things changes. 7- after 5-6 hours on medication ( on all the once i tried) I get depressed, angry, small things offend me. even when i hear baby crying i get angry. i get very quiet and not feeling talking to anyone. 8- even with medication i have memory issue. 9- without the medication, I feel restless, not caring, not responsible, not able to focus, ignorant, lazy, not paying attention, depressed alot sometimes. 10- I feel depressed when the medication start wearing off, not able to accomplish things on time, even less caring about the people i care and love. I feel a 10000 years old person. that affected my relation with my wife that told me same thing. 11- all ADD medication will work for first 5-6 hours only and guess what!! i feel very tired and sleep and i even can sleep after 8 hours with no problem. So, I'm really not sure what I have, ADD or Depression or both or something else. If i stop ADD medication I eat a lot and gain weight fast. Please Help me |

Re: Fatigue, Tired, forgetting, etc..
Definitely sounds like depression. I suggest you knock that over before considering looking at ADD, as the symptoms can overlap.

Re: Fatigue, Tired, forgetting, etc..
It definitely could be depression.
Do you experience these thoughts/behaviors on all adhd medications that you've tried? Just curious. I had virtually all the same stuff going on when I took Vyvanse, but not upon switching back to my original med. Keep your doctor informed of everything you wrote here and he/she ought to be able to help you. |

Re: Fatigue, Tired, forgetting, etc..
Yes I did experience that on all my meds.
when taking Vyvanse I'm good first few hours then i get into depression. without the med, I dont feel motivated at all, restless, and get some depressions. I dont like doing anything, even things i used to like doing. for example, gaming and i avoid even playing games that requires alot thinking or reading. I dont like going out any more I see things are boring and worthless to do, even when i travel same thing. I like the feeling i get the first few hours on Vyvanse, I feel happy motivated want to do things but that changes alot after few hours. you said depression, so do you think I might have both ADD and Depression? I have alot of ADD symptoms, from not able to focus, not able to finish jobs i started, not motivated, cant multi tasks etc.. I'm not enjoying my life too. |

Re: Fatigue, Tired, forgetting, etc..
It's possible for someone to have ad/hd and depression, yes. Often, if there may be underlying depression, doctors treat the depression first, so you can determine which of your symptoms are related to depression and which are ad/hd (since there is often a great deal of overlap). ALso, there are many medications out there that can help with both ad/hd and depression, simultaneously, and even more combinations that could also work well.
