Re: What was high school like for you?
Some questions:
1. What "clique(s)" did you belong to? I belonged to any clique I wanted to belong to. Jocks? I played football. Druggies? I could party with the best of them. Egg heads? I graduated with honors. 2. what classes did you enjoy? I was a partying trouble maker. I enjoyed history because I could cut class and the teacher didn't care. Seriously, I enjoyed math and science and excelled at these subjects. I knew I wanted to pursue some engineering or science career. 3. what classes did you hate? Biology. The teacher was a pain, expected notes and homework to be done correctly. ![]() 4. What grades did you get? 1st year and half - perfect 4.0. Then I discovered partying and trouble making. Grades gradually dipped. but... 5. If you graduated, what was your GPA? Still managed a 3.6 gpa, top 10. 6. If you dropped out, why? 7. How did you manage the massive amount of homework? My high school was easy. I really got away with too much crap. I learned to play the grade game. Do just the right amount of work and the right work, and you can get the right grade. Fellow trouble maker stole the master test answers in one of my classes. It all caught up with me when I went to college. 1st semester gpa = 0.0. Lost a full ride scholarship. I was depressed much of the time. And angry. My dad drank himself to death and died 3 days after I graduated from high school. Mom was depressed alot through my high school years. I self medicated with alcohol. I got into serious trouble after my first semester of college. I'm talking serious. My ADHD helped me play all these games. Live it all on the surface. Get bored? Switch acts. Hang out with a different group. Do something dangerous, live on the edge. Play with fire. I couldn't tell you which act was real. Looking back, ADHD and bi-polar were clearly issues. Thank God, I survived those years. It's amazing I didn't kill myself with my self destructive behavior. The classic comment: I wish I knew then what I know now.

Re: What was high school like for you?
1. Cliques:
I hung out with the cool kids. There were no cliques, just popular people and unpopular people. They grouped themselves accordingly. Before I graduated I stopped hanging out with said cool kids, and totally ignored them. It was awesome, but lonely. ![]() 2. Favorite Classes and worst classes: Everything but P.E. and Math. I guess I'm the odd one out here saying I absolutely despised P.E. I'm tall, but unbelievably uncoordinated. And my math teachers were always pretentious, insecure wieners who were for some reason compelled to demonstrate how superior their intellect was in all aspects of life. I seriously had to restrain myself from becoming violent in those classes, and I'm a notoriously docile person. But now in university I'm taking calculus and loving it, so I think it was just a personality conflict thing. Math is so much more enjoyable when some balding douche doesn't rant about how stupid todays generations are. 3. My grades varied wildly, depending on what year I was depressed. 4. My last year I got a 3.8 gpa You can guess what the one B was in... stupid math. 5. I don't do homework. Luckily they know better than to assign you it in my university too! But the massive amounts of reading and projects I have to do, I'm definitely having trouble dealing with. I deprive myself of sleep and binge on coffee to deal with it mostly. |

Quote:
1. What "clique(s)" did you belong to? - The skater crew but got along with everyone better than my own crew. I was popular in school, more so than my group but I was at the bottom of the rung in my own group. 2. what classes did you enjoy? - History, some literature 3. what classes did you hate? - foreign language 4. What grades did you get? - Dominated tests. Top 99th percentile in History, English and top 95th in Biology, state wide testing. That said had no idea what assignments were due and slept in class. Bad grades 5. If you graduated, what was your GPA? Crap, went to junior college than a top UC 6. If you dropped out, why? Told by dean that I should have been expelled due to all the crap I put my teachers through. The dean and I were buds though, I would get suspended in class by a teacher, go to the deans and we would just hangout and Id go to the next class. I owe him alot. Mr. O'Leary. Wish I could find him to thank him. 7. How did you manage the massive amount of homework? Didnt due it |

1. What "clique(s)" did you belong to?
The "bad" girls. LOL 2. what classes did you enjoy? Biology and Chemistry, Art 3. what classes did you hate? Math. English. Anything boring. 4. What grades did you get? A's and B's 5. If you graduated, what was your GPA? Dunno. 3.0-3.3 or so 6. If you dropped out, why? I didn't. 7. How did you manage the massive amount of homework? I did it during class mostly if there wasn't anything else to do. I didn't seem to have a huge amount of homework like kids do now. It must have been different back then. I worked and sometimes would do schoolwork if it was slow there.

Re: What was high school like for you?
1. What "clique(s)" did you belong to?
None, really. I just kind of floated around. People seemed to like me well enough, but I never really fit in with anyone. Though I suppose the strongest connections I made with people were with others that tended to be outcasts or loners. 2. what classes did you enjoy? Not many, but if I had to pick one it'd be history. It was the only one that was able to hold my attention. 3. what classes did you hate? Math, absolutlely despise this subject. My aversion to it, led to some severely underdeveloped math skills that kind of screwed me over in college. Oh well. Also, English. I could never pay attention long enough to read anything and full comprehend it. I also despised writing essays. Not because I was bad at it but because I hated following the "proper" procdedure laid out for each essay. I hated doing outlines and draft after draft. I usually skipped these steps (for a grade deduction) and still ended up with the best essay in the class. Writing is now one of my biggest strengths in college. 4. What grades did you get? Every letter of the alphabet, probably a few made up ones as well. 5. If you graduated, what was your GPA? Don't remember. Not good, not bad. 6. If you dropped out, why? Didn't, but wanted to. 7. How did you manage the massive amount of homework? Didn't do it. I hardly recall opening a text book for 4 years.

ON a side noted: Graduated with two masters and one post masters. Would love to get a PhD in neuroscience or neuropsychology. Have enough credits for a PhD. Graduated with a 3.75. When I graduated hs, I could barely write a sentence, didn't know correct grammar or punctuation. Didn't know basic math. |
