Adderall work but Vyvanse didn't???

Hello All!

My doc put me on Adderall 20 mg which was a life saver. It worked but I couldn't "feel" it working. It was amazing. I mentioned to my doctor that it was about a 60% improvement in focus. He said we should push for 100% and upped me to 30 mg and gave me a Rx for Vyvanse 30 mg to try too. The 30mgs made me jittery so I tried the Vyvanse. The Vyvanse did nothing. It was as if I took nothing. I am really surprised by this since they are both forms of amphetamine.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Why might one work so well and the other one have no effect whatsoever? I'm wondering if the 30mg of Vyvanse is just way to low to take effect.

I was on 30mg of Adderall XR, but I crashed SOOO bad, so my pdoc switched me to Vyvanse, started at 30, didn't help, 40 didn't help, went to 60, helped for about a month and a half, now I'm on 70mg of Vyvanse and that seems to do the trick. I would ask for a higher dose of the Vyvanse, I LOVE It compared to the Adderall, I don't crash AT ALL, but I will say, I do have a harder time falling asleep than I did on the Adderall, BUT as wierd as it sounds, the harder it is for me to fall asleep, the easier it is for me to wake up in the morning to my alarm.

I was on Adderall XR 60mg & Adderall IR 20mg. I told my pdoc I wanted stop the XR and stick with Adderall IR 80mg. Then he decides to put me on 70mg of Vyvanse. This is drug is crap. If Shire didn't have to loose the patent on Adderall XR, I doubt there would even be a Vyvanse. In my opinon, Vyvanse was created to make money, not help people with ADD/ADHD. It's been one full week of Vyvanse for me, and I am irritable, tired and unfocused.

The doc will probably be cautious with dosing because of the jitters on 30mg adderall so may take dosing slow. It takes a higher Vyvanse dose to equal an Adderall dose. Ask the doc to try a higher Vyvanse dose. Also Adderall is mixed amphetamine salts and Vyvanse is only the dex form so may have fewer side effects. But everyone is different.

Vyvanse has a lot less amphetamine by weight then adderall/dexedrine. 100mg of vyvanse is equal to 40mg of dexedrine. Which is how much d-amp ~60mg of adderall contains.

Combine that with vyvanse's extended release and it translates to a much lower dosage over time vs adderall XR.

Yeah I'm on Vyvance 50mg and doesn't come a hair close to dexadrain. I had all my problems solved with dex and was cautious with money, was able to focus on what people were saying (and not what they were doing), and able to plan out for the future. I could understand the difference between what I needed and wanted. THe Problem??! I CAN"T EXPLAIN THIS TO MY DOC!

My mind starts racing (as usual)..picking up his facial features, his clothing, and everything else that comes with my adhd. How can I ask him to switch me bc I dont also want him thinking I'm a drug seeker. That thought usually prohibits my inability to explain that vyvance is crap for focus and impulse.

Thanks all. My doc is having me try 25mg of Adderall XR. It's my first time on the XR so I'm crossing my fingers.
