Just prescribed Wellbutrin (bupropion HCL)

So after having slight adhd and just general feelings of apathy to life and lack of motivation to do anything for 10 years i went to the doc and was prescribed bupropion. Since i have no insurance the IR was the only one i can afford. I was told to start with 3 100mg pills a day for a month and see how it effects me. I noticed that this seems like alot to start with at first. What can i expect for the first week or so? I used to take adderall years ago for adhd in high school and i didnt like it much do to my hands and feet feeling cold and a since the drug was controlling me.

Re: Just prescribed Wellbutrin (bupropion HCL)

First two weeks

dizziness and confusion, insomnia, ringing in the ear.

all that will go away and you will have more motivation and more sense of wellbeing. Also will lose some weight and increase in libido. Irritation is one side effect

it has stimulant properties so take 7 hours before bed.

drink plenty of water cause you will sweat like hell.

go for the SR not the IR

dont take generic by Teva is awful and wont experience the true benefits of wellbutrin
generic SR by watson pharma is made by the brand manufacturer see my profile for photos so get that

oh yeah, no alcohol period. you will have a hangover for a week plus I did not experience any buzz from drinking so there was no pleasure. If you smoke you will quit.

that was my experience

good luck!

Re: Just prescribed Wellbutrin (bupropion HCL)

Josh, where do you get your generic SR by watson?

What is the cost?
I know IR will be cheaper...is SR that important, iyo?

Dogman,I'm in the same boat as you.

Josh's advice reflects the opinion of many members, and I recently discovered the generic mfg problems.

I am on bupropion,mfg by MYLAN (Josh,opinion?).
It seemed to have bad side effects for 1 week, then they calmed down.I don't think they are doing much, though.

I'm willing to cut my food budget,if Watson is in my 'ballpark'. If there is *anything* you can do,to get the Watson, the improvement of your life will be worth it.

I went for best price.
I take 300mg/day,HOWEVER,I take 75mg x 4 per day.

Seems silly,but 75x4=300,and after $20 to 'join' the Walgreen's 'club',I get 180 75mg pills for $12.

Their price changes dramatically,if you buy any other dose than 75mg,though.

Hope that makes sense.

Re: Just prescribed Wellbutrin (bupropion HCL)

Hey CptNemo

I get my Watson from my local pharmacy.
With no insurance i pay 45 for 60 tablets
(each tablet is 200 mg SR).

SR is usually more expensive than instant release
watson does not make instant release, just SR.

mylan is a good pharmaceutical company based in WV
so I dont think it is that much different than the brand especially for instant release.

I think that Watson generic is little bit more expensive than the other generics 5-7 dollars in my case.

I have a photo of Watson wellbutrin bottle that shows that its "made by GSK" in fine print (the brand manufacturer).

You can also get a discount card that would save you 40-60 % on brand names including wellbutrin, Focalin XR, Ritalin LA, Seroquel (total of 300 brands). Show the card to the pharmacy and they discount it directly).

When I tried the instant release I was sweating pretty hard so the SR is little less and last longer

like Sandoz adderall, you will find watson at small independent pharmacies. I hope that good generic pharmaceutical companies like sandoz and watson last.

Teva is putting so much pressure on chain pharmacies to stock only its products so they can eliminate their their competition. Why do you think that its impossible to get sandoz ? its cheaper, and better than Teva.

last time I paid 54 dollars for Teva generic adderall from target vs. $29 Sandoz from a small pharmacy.

this is from Novartis (parent company of sandoz)
"Listed as one of the world’s most ethical companies by the Ethisphere Institute"

"During 2008, Novartis increased research and development investments by 12 percent to USD 7.2 billion. This is one of the highest figures in the industry relative to sales (17.4 percent)."
http://www.novartis.com/about-novartis/corporate-citizenship/business-conduct/research-developements.shtml

I know that I promote Sandoz. I don't work for Sandoz. But if somebody is promoting a company without them paying or asking means its a pretty good company and their products "literally speaks for its self".

I want also for sandoz not to stop making adderall because of no demand from the chain pharmacies and thats what happened with Mallinckrodt dex tabs.

Re: Just prescribed Wellbutrin (bupropion HCL)

Thank you. I hope Dogman considers your comments with the importance they deserve.

Edit: Sandoz is the only generic mfg that not only has never had a negative comment, but a 'ton' of positives,in this forum.

My personal experience.
