My brother used a variant of this... except the second clock was across the room in a cubbyhole with a heavy criss-cross grid of scotch tape across the opening. Apparently he could get up and trun the thing off in his sleep but the irritation of dealing with sticky tape woke him up.

This list is hilarious.

Seek, any particular brand of sunrise clock? Is the lamp part of it, or does it attach to a standard lamp?

I ordered the ClearSounds Wake & Shake alarm clock on ebay for my brother for christmas. He doesn't have ADD but has a terribly hard time getting out of bed in the morning. When the alarm goes off he just hits the snooze button. (does that several times before he gets up) And i can tell you when he still lived at home it irritated the hell out of me in the mornings. Plus don't think he can afford to be late for university classes.

Re: Ten Unique Alarm Clocks

Wow, this thread is about 2 years old, lol.

Those clocks sound cool. I really like unique clocks and watches, always have. However, I don't see how any of them would probably get me up. My problem is that I don't even hear the alarm after a while. I get comfortable with whatever horrible noise one makes and I sleep right through it. I can sleep through the regular alarm on my alarm clock, the backup radio alarm, and 2 cell phone alarms that go off with different sounds each, alternating with several alarms on each one. If I'm gone, I'm gone.

Neat ideas though.

Re: Ten Unique Alarm Clocks

I realize this post is a bit late, but for those who still wish to read it, here it is:

I was in the search for a good alarm clock about a year ago. I'd done 3 different alarm clocks, the CD alarm clock, and I even tried the sunrise alarm clock. It didn't matter, I still had a terrible time getting up in the morning.

I started involving my now fiance, who would call me every morning after 2 of my alarm clocks went off and he would force me to talk to him for 5 minutes and then I was awake. That system worked well, but was draining to him.

Therefore, for our anniversary last year, he got me this alarm clock:
http://www.amazon.com/Island-Dogs-La.../dp/B001AZMGK6

You set the base away from the bed, but the remote next to your bed. When the alarm goes off, you have to use the laser pointer to hit a bulls-eye on the target to turn it off. ONLY hitting a bullseye, or finding a screwdriver and removing the batteries turns the alarm clock off.

Nice features: it has a 24 hour setting, so you can easily tell AM/PM. There is NO snooze, but I haven't needed one in an entire year. It makes you concentrate and get enough hand/eye coordination in your system to wake you up. It's also cool because it's a laser and it makes you feel "high tech".

This is one of the best gifts I've ever received and I highly recommend it for any ADDer looking for a good alarm clock.
