Need some advice to persist this time!

Very motivated, can't persist. Sounds familiar ? I've a new job (previous post) consisting of filling boxes and easy, few thinking, perfect!

Not really : 5-6 hours a day non stop. Getting up at 4 AM en every day! Uncapable of this, so repetitive!

At last I have a job, otherwise nothing (school not certain)... dilemma!

Objective is to get a different job but very bad experiences and I need the money.

What should I do ? I need very quickly some advice

Re: Need some advice to persist this time!

I guess it depends on your options.

Is there any reason you cannot begin looking for another job after work? It is much easier to find a job if you have a job.

Yes Yes YES!!!
I find that it is all but impossible to find a decent job while unemployed.
Find a new job first, then just give your 2 weeks.

HAD a job =( My ADD flaws were too severe with the sleep problems and early start.

They could've given me another week, but it would only have been hard for me.

@ janzyn - well I don't really have a choice any more, now do I ??

God...

This is way to obvious, but I'll call myself Captain Obvious for a post.
You really need something stimulating to you.
If you like books, fight for a bookstore job,
technology, fight for a bestbuy or something,
etc.
I have had to do medical leave repeatedly because I hate my job...
So if you get something you don't care for, it is really worth it to keep
up the search for something better.

Re: Need some advice to persist this time!

Thnx guys for responding, great tips!

I'm looking for something now. Yeah I wish I would've kept it. Easier to give a good impression by having something already.

I like music, art, moving, hate it if it's repetitive, but I fear I'm gonna spend weeks finding something. It's very urgent!! I have bad experiences finding jobs... and afraid I won't find anything...

Re: Need some advice to persist this time!

I took a job in my early 20s because the money and benefits were good. I almost had a breakdown (well, I did, but not the kind that lands you in the hospital) because I hated it so much. I stuck with it for 6 years. It wasn't worth it, I hated it so much that all that wonderful salary went towards retail therapy.

I couldn't afford to stay at the job I liked the most. It was in New York City, and not only did it cost a fortune to commute, but I had to pay taxes to the state in both NJ and NY, plus NY City tax.

Here in the US, the job market is horrid. It's dangerous to quit a job if you don't already have another lined up. But even in a good market, you want to look for something new before leaving something you already have. And if you don't have a particular career in mind, then you might as well take ned_va's advice and look for the place you want to work, and figure out what you want to do there later.

Re: Need some advice to persist this time!

I was thinking of ways you might be able to stay at your present job.

Would they allow you to listen to music on an mp3 player with earbuds or headphones?

I find that certain music really helps me continue with tasks that are very boring/monotonous.

Can you work a split shift?
I had a hospital lab job one time where I worked 4 hours in the morning, then came back in the evening to work my other 4 hours.

Re: Need some advice to persist this time!

When it comes to a job that is THAT early in the morning my heart goes out to you. My advice tho is to keep that job UNTIL you have another one. Anytime a negative thought intrudes just tell yourself one foot in front of the other...you'll make it thru.

Then definitely start applying.

Haha if only. No but anyways they didn't keep me there. I wouldn't have survived the repetitive hours any ways.

The best is to look vor the first thing on my path, once in my hand I'll keep on looking for the better.

Begin life at the basics, than build it up and dare.

No we have, yes we can get.
