What about your parents? They are the ones who would best able recall you as a child. Taking them with you to an ADHD evaluation would greatly assist the assessment process and be very appreciated by the psychiatrist.

Damn. It should be, it seems pretty relevant. Thanks for the confirmation at any rate.

Re: Diagnosis without parents, teachers to give evidence?

I was diagnosed at 41 after my parents were deceased. I brought a stack of old notes from teachers complaining to my parents. I even had stuff from my preschool teachers complaining about my disorganization, daydreaming and inattention at the age of 4. I also have a wife that was willing to document that I still have the same symptoms decades later.

That is, Working Memory permits past experiences and behaviours involving oneself to be reactivated and prolonged (i.e; held in mind) to prepare for a future for oneself, and it is out of this process that an awareness of oneself probably arrises.

As Working Memory is substantially impaired ("leaky") in ADHD, it is hypothesised that pathological deficits in self-awareness arrise in consequence.

Hope this is of some relevance/interest re your query?

Yeah but basic things that happened like failing a grade and getting suspended (humiliation that I'll never forget and got teased on growing up) is pretty accurate. I can't give any details though of what I did in class.. I remember faces of teachers and classmates and that's it. All my repot cards said I was easily distracted and was out of my seat and interrupted other students. I couldn't get my report cards though. I'll never forget being held back in grade 2 and all my classmates moving to a different classroom while smaller kids where in my class. I'll never forgive that teacher, and my mother for allowing them to fail me. They asked my mother permission and she agreed.

Maybe that's one of the reasons I haven't spoken to her in 15 years?

Re: Diagnosis without parents, teachers to give evidence?

I don't have any close people either, except I suppose my dad, but I have other physical conditions that he says need more attention than my adhd... o.O

Fortunately for me, my symptoms are obvious.. I'm still in the evaluation process and I haven't been asked to bring any "evidence" yet..
