Hypersensitivity/Stimulus Overload

Hi folks, I'm a 19 year old female with ADHD, taking a low dose of Straterra. It has occurred to me as I go through college that I am much more sensitive to stimuli than my peers. My eyes are very sensitive to light, I have a very keen sense of smell, and sometimes sounds just become overwhelming. Loud music or lots of people talking is a nightmare for me. It's like I can't hear my own thoughts and it just scatters my mind and shuts me down. As a result of all these things, I get plenty of headaches. Anyone else experience these sympoms or know if they are directly linked to ADHD? Thanks!

Re: Hypersensitivity/Stimulus Overload

Not directly linked to adhd, but often comorbid with it.
Google Sensory Processing Disorder.
Sometimes called Sensory Integration Disorder.
Wikipedia has a page for Sensory Discrimination Disorder.

People with this disorder may be sensitive to only one type of stimuli.
I seem to be a rare bird among uncommon birds as I am sensitive to all kinds
of stimuli.

Visual
Auditory
Tactile
Taste
Smell
Position/movement
Interoception.
