Re: Time and Computers

What do you want to accomplish? (On the computer, or off.)

I need to be more productive, too.

Maybe we can encourage each other.

I'm going to try setting alarms to go off every half hour to remind me to stretch and also to check myself to see if I'm doing what I should be doing. (And being on the forum is not one of the things I should be doing at the moment!)

Cool. How's it going? Are you using any particular tutorial or website to learn Excel and Word?

I got a little bit of work done, then got distracted again. Need to get back on track. Have to be down the hall at 3:30, so maybe I can work for 10 minutes.

Re: Time and Computers

I recommend the series of podcasts called iProcrastinate. It's a very successful project, I must admit. I hope many of you here can use it to your advantage. I know it's been helping me *heaps*, as our Aussie pals tend to say Enjoy!

G'ADDay everyone

Amen to that!

So, have you cracked open the book(s) and put in the disc for your Excel tutorial?

I am getting ready to go to work; just got a short deadline (need to write something by noon!), but actually I find this kind of adrenaline rush motivating. So hopefully I'll get it done!

I don't stay very focused at all, which has been worse lately. There are always forums to read, facebook, the news, any number of distractions depending on the day. It sucks because I'll go to research something for my job and an hour later I still haven't looked it up but I've read all the local gossip on facebook, balanced my checkbook, read some news, and likely played a game or two in the process. To add to the joy, I am also taking an online course that is self-paced. Probably not the best idea for me at this point, but I've already paid for it and have to finish by July 1, so I am going to have to FORCE myself to stay on task in the next couple of months or pay yet again for another extension, which is just a huge waste of money and a major frustration for me. Right now it's more the fear of losing my job than anything that brings me back to focus when I realize I've gone way off course, at least to an extent.

If I didn't have a computer, I don't know what I'd be doing now, I guess I'd probably be in an office job, possibly back in insurance or retail, rather than working from home. There are definite perks to working from home, but at the same time, it's very easy to isolate this way.

Like if I lost my computer or if I never had one in the first place?

If I lost my computer, I'd have a bit of a nervous breakdown, as I often do when I lose things important to me.

If I never had one, I'd still be spending most of my time reading books.
