Cherry Smoothie
Rated: 4 stars http://meals.com/RecipeCenter/Recipe...RecipeID=30542 This is a refreshing pick-me-up any time of day. Estimated Times Preparation time: 5 mins Ingredients 2 cups frozen sweet or tart cherries 1 ripe banana, peeled 1 cup cherry juice blend, or other juice 4 maraschino cherries, for garnish Directions Put frozen cherries, banana and cherry juice blend in container of electric blender or food processor. Cover and process until smooth. Pour into individual serving glasses. Garnish with maraschino cherries. Serve immediately. Serving Size: 4 By following the instructions we ended up with a watery consistency. Also, the color in the pictures indicated it should be lighter in color. I added some milk, about 1/4 cup to cut the strong cherry flavor. We used Juicy Juice Cherry Juice and this was very cherry flavored! We added 2 bananas instead of 1. We added about 15 icecubes to get the slushy effect. We could not find Marachino Cherries for a topping, so we used a strawberry as a topping on each glass. One child loved it and had seconds. Both adults had seconds! One child just said "No~!" Can't please everyone, but we thought this was a winner, and we will do it again. It only takes 5 minutes to make and tastes delicious. Great fat-free desert. Roasted Honey-Pepper Pork
Rated: 4 stars This makes a delicious roast. I used all the same ingredients, but cooked a 4 lb roast and ended up with lots of left overs. Everything else stayed the same. By using "sirloin pork loin roast" and making serving sizes of 6 oz of meat, I was able to cut the fat grams down to 4.5 grams and the calories down to 167 calories!!! per serving. Honey's sweetness and pepper's spice are the melody, while mildly lemony thyme and mellow brown mustard sing the harmony line in this impressive dish, a centerpiece for a festive meal. (Anything left can be made into great sandwiches!) http://meals.com/RecipeCenter/Recipe...?RecipeID=6257 Estimated Times Preparation time: 10 mins Cooking time: 1 hr, 45 mins Standing time: 10 mins Ingredients 2 1/2 pounds boneless pork loin roast, tied up by butcher 1/4 cup honey 2 tablespoons brown mustard 2 tablespoons coarse-ground black pepper 1/2 teaspoon crushed dried thyme 1/2 teaspoon salt Directions Preheat oven to 300°F. Score 1/2-inch deep slits all around pork roast, taking care not to cut the string holding the roast together. Place in a baking dish. Combine honey, mustard, pepper, thyme and salt in a small bowl; mix until well blended. Brush over the roast, working well into the slits; bake for 1 hour. Pull out rack just enough to turn roast over; brush on remaining honey mixture. Cook about 45 minutes more or until thermometer inserted into center reads 170°F. Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing. Thank you Jon
I am always looking for low fat dishes, but since I'm from a family who thinks that their idea of low fat means drinking water or unsweetened tea, it's hard to get them to try something new..although I have snuck a few in on them. ![]() And I'm gonna put that website in fav's.. hee hee What the family don't know won't hurt them. ![]() |

What I've been reading lately indicates that fat is irrelevant in food, and it's low CARB recipes that are more beneficial... Atkins and Amen school of thought...
