How was your birth ?

A supposed correlation in ADHD is problems with birth

Would be interested to know what peoples birth was like here

I was born spine to spine 2 weeks late with some degree of asphyxia from my chord. Did anybody here have a similar experience or a problematic birth

Re: How was your birth ?

I was a C-section baby that had a temporary heart murmur. Later I turned out to have a testosterone deficiency and treatments for it have failed to this day.

Re: How was your birth ?

I was underweight, right at 5lbs, but not premature. Mom said it was a struggle to get me out. I'm a big believer in birth trauma having lasting effects, but they aren't recognized or acknowledged by many. I posted a thread on it a long time ago, but have to run to get mom now. Will look for it tonight when I return.

Re: How was your birth ?

premature and scrawny even then. my mum smoked like a chimney so likely related to that. it was the seventies and she was quite mentally ill.

i wasn't a sickly kid though.

Re: How was your birth ?

I was only 15" long, full term, with a full head of thick curly hair and my mum was a smoker and took Dexedrine.

Re: How was your birth ?

Slightly low birth weight i guess i was 6 lbs, but no complications.
my mom smoked though but it was the late 60's...
it all went quite fast apparently (4 hours)
strangely my son was born in the exact same time frame, as i was ( except the low birth weight part - 9 lbs 6 oz )

Re: How was your birth ?

I was 2 weeks late and covered in meconium. I weighed 7lbs. i am also left handed.... I read somewhere that there is a correlation with birth trauma and being left handed.

Re: How was your birth ?

During my mother's pregnancy with me, my father was very ill with a heart virus that almost killed him. I think the stress hormones may have affected my development in the womb. I have a suspicion that she may have drank alcohol too.

Re: How was your birth ?

I was 6 weeks premature and apparently was pretty slow growing up until about 4 years, especially vocally. Its funny, I learned how to read about the same time as talk.

Re: How was your birth ?

I was born quite a bit too early and had to have blood transfusions. Not quite sure what was what but apparently I only had 5% chance of surviving. Makes one feel extra unappreciative when pondering whether to linger or not ;p
