Re: Come on In If You're Online And Say Anything: Part III

wow, that's so bizarre!

I feel really bad for all the Reindeer that don't make Santa's team. I watched a documentary once and it showed that Reindeer have to deal with tens of thousands of mosquitoes that bite them on their noses and around the eyes and can get in under their fur and to their skin.
They migrate to higher altitudes to try and escape...but omg, what a nightmare of an existence :*(

Note: Linked video from Nature (public television show) has dramatized hunting scene. No animals were actually harmed in the making of the video.
I've seen birds do a pattern much like that. Didn't realize herd animals did it.
Cool.

I'm guessing this is mostly rhetorical/wistful, but in case you want numbers...
168 new members have joined since January 1, 2019.
(Of those, maybe about 1/2 were spambots. Among the rest, a small proportion have posted.)

Re: Come on In If You're Online And Say Anything: Part III

I've been keeping pretty active lately. It's kinda nice, though I wish I was getting more sleep (finally picked up my new sleep meds today).

I've been part of a wellness group I goto twice a week (been doing that for over a year now)..

Now I'm taking a separate class once a week on basic employment skills.

Was seeing an awesome lady twice a week who comes in and has been helping me pick up my apartment...as well as she's just someone to talk to and helps me in so many ways with my moods. She's been VERY important to me in keeping stable this last winter. She's only coming once a week now though (for 2 hours) because she's the one running the employment skills class.

Once a week I go play some board and card games (simple ones) with some other people at my therapy center (we all tend to isolate if left alone so they started doing this to give us a way to get out and socialize a bit).

And I'm taking an art group each thursdays (another group from my therapy center).

I mean...it's not very much compared to a lot of people...but it's better than me sitting around all week doing nothing.

I've got things going on 4 days a week now.

And it feels pretty good. I'm hoping that eventually I can transition into some part time employment or volunteering...1 little step at a time (followed by...of course...3 very large steps backwards! lol).

Re: Come on In If You're Online And Say Anything: Part III

Just an idea that's been floating around in my head over the last week.

What do you guys think? Would this be inappropriate?

I'm working with a lady at my therapy center...she's not a therapist, she doesn't have any certifications or anything...I'm not exactly sure what she officially does. She does do some things like runs an art group for people (like me) who tend to isolate too much...so we have a way to get out and be social a bit...she also works with kids and has a lego/play group for them...
And for me, she's like a life coach. She's been coming to my apartment and we do a lot of talking and she's been amazing and helping me process through a lot of things. She's been very important to me over these last few months in staying stable.
But she's also helping me slowly clean up my apartment.
And she's helping work towards other goals as well. Hoping to eventually get me out there either volunteering, or getting a part time job I can handle. She also recently started a class that covers basic skills needed for working (such as communication and interviews and such).

So she's not a therapist for me. She's more of a friend to me than that. I absolutely do see her as a professional still...but it's nothing like the relationships I have with therapists.

My question is...is what would you guys think if I asked her if I could go to her church with her to give it a try and see if it'd be anything I'd be interested in?
Do you think that would be totally inappropriate?
I think if I did that with a therapist...then yeah, that'd be crossing a big line. But she's not a therapist. Like I said, I see her much more as a friend and a life coach. Someone who's working to gently guide me through my life while keeping me heading in the right direction.

I haven't brought this up to her yet, as I'm not even sure I really want to try a church out right now (I haven't gone to any churches in 15+ years)...and I don't know if it's wrong or not to even ask. Or if she could get in trouble if I did go with her.

I'd like to hear what you guys think.

I think you might mention to her that you've been thinking about trying church
again and you'd like to know what she thinks she gets from going to church.
Then leave it in her hands.

Re: Come on In If You're Online And Say Anything: Part III

Saw my doctor today...had some blood work done.

My A1C (sugar levels) are still too high...but they're MUCH better than my last visit a few months ago. 7.7 (they were above 12 ).

My thyroid levels are slowly coming down as well. They should be between 0-5 I think...they were really high (not sure how high off the top of my head...I'm guessing well over 40)...then last I checked they were at 26...today they're at 17'ish. He's going to double my thyroid meds.

And I'm down 15 pounds from my last visit.

I still have high blood pressure though (going to increase that med too), and my liver levels are out of whack (lots of highs going on)...so he wants to keep an eye on that.

He doesn't like that I'm giving myself so much insulin...says he's never had a patiant take as much as I'm taking...but as long as I'm not getting lows he's willing to work with it for now.
I know that if I made some wiser choices I'd be able to take less insulin...but meh. I great at knowing all the right things to do...not so great at actually doing them.

He's also going to have my local oxygen place (the guys who work with me with my cpap machine) do an at home test on me to see if my oxygen levels are dropping as I sleep. If not, I will no longer need to use my oxygen (which I stopped using after getting put on my cpap machine. I don't feel like I need it anymore).
