More Talking to Self

My DD was diagnosed with ADHD. We tried several meds but seemed to cause more problems. DD used to very very lightly mumble to self before any meds. Each med seemed to turn it up more. This last med has really turned it up. It is hard to keep conversation going now without DD beginning to talk to self so focus and concentration is much worst. DD has been off last medicine Intuniv for about 2 weeks. Also, DD picks in hair alot due to this med. DD is 15.

Can you recommend a Psychiatrist or Psychologist? Maybe even one that knows the meds well and specializes not only in ADHD (mentioned that DD may be on autism spectrum). The Psychiatrist we have is not so familiar with the talking to self. The talking to self is like about remembered scenes from movies or something read on internet or remembered previous happenings. Nothing violent.

Also, has this happened to any of your children and what helped if anything?

Thanks

Re: More Talking to Self

This may help. We cant really refer to anyone specifically. I would highly suggest you go to a psychiatrist and as soon as you can. I am not trying to raise alarm bells but there are other instances where something more than adhd or autism is going on.

Talk to your insurance company. They have lists of doctors and what they specialize in, and can email you an entire list of doctors in your area that specialize in ADHD or other issues.
