Annual Job Perfomance Review

They want me to fill out the same stupid meaningless questionnaire to rate
my own performance that I did last year. I've been doing this for twenty
years. They rate me as mid level where some coworkers with 5 to 10 years
are rated as senior. I do exactly the same job and make the company as
much money as them. I make $2.50/hr more than rookies with zero
experience and up to $5/hr less than some who have been doing this 5 to10 years.
I guess some of my ADD symptoms are obvious and they interpret that as
me having sub par intelligence (or stupid). That is insulting to me and I feel
humiliated and I'm ******. I'm being cheated and discriminated against.

**** them and their ******* review! I'm not going to play their game until
they respect what I contribute.

Re: Annual Job Perfomance Review

You're not?? Don't you HAVE to? I mean to keep the job. Do you have to do "smart" goals? Oh how I hate the condescending tone of that. Smart goals. Because if I don't put it in a format that allows you to hang me with my own rope that wouldn't be smart?!

Sorry. Your rant.

But I'm in the same boat. And I sympathize. Or empathize.

As I'm sure you know, efficiency and @s$ kissing are what seem to be required in most business models. Unless your IQ is 180. But if it is, you still have to have enough of one of their favored traits to not end up being paid less and always in disfavor. In truth, though, there is very likely someone there who does see what you actually contribute.

My husband has to do this too and discovered the art of copy and paste. Then he tweaks the parts that highlight what he does that is more than adequate or over and above what his job requires. He is a very quiet and unassuming person and had to learn that it was important to remind/share with his superiors what he does do so they realize he is an asset.

Re: Annual Job Perfomance Review

I've got my performance review next week as well and need to write a big document about my goals for the coming year. Uggh...I just want to do my job and not waste time on stupid documents. How is that for s goal?

Good luck with your performance review. Like Sarah says this is really an opportunity to tell people what you've done and why ayour are valuable. I hate doing this because I snever feel as if I'm contributing anything but if you that you are adding value then this is your time to be heard.

Re: Annual Job Perfomance Review

Good news! I let my supervisor know what I thought of the performance
evaluation. Three days later he tells me my assigned level was a clerical error
and I've been moved up to the senior level.
Why couldn't I have been more assertive last year? Well it's because I had a
nagging fear they knew something I didn't and I had to figure it out before
confronting them. After stewing about it for a year I realized it was bull. If my
ADD brain weren't so slow to figure things out I wouldn't have accumulated
thousands in debt over the last year. Anyway, I'm happy... for now.
