Jeeze...I mean my doctor was worked up about the number...especially when it dropped to a 77...but I haven't really thought much of it to be honest. I'm a dumb dumb and know nothing about this stuff. lol I've google searched a bit on gout, but I haven't gotten around to google searching blood oxygen level yet.
I wasn't honestly all that concerned, but now maybe I need to be.

My doctor told me he'd personally make a call to the place that does sleep studies around here (a town 30 miles away)...they're tough to get appointments with I guess which is why he wants to set it up personally...they wont give him as much grief.

Not to keep making lame excuses...but I ended up skipping my last sleep study, because it was scheduled just as my mom passed away last may and things were just a complete blur to me for that week. I knew I had the appointment, and I knew I could've kept it...but I was just not with things at all that week and decided to skip it.

thats not a lame excuse buddy, sorry again about your mom

as a friend, you do need to be concerned about the blood oxygen

please do what it takes

stay on your tank for now, do not get lax with it

when we went through this a few months back i talked to sevral specialists and did hundreds of hours of legitimate research on it

the good news is it is very likely something you can fix

Am I being over sensitive to get annoyed when people do that? haha cause people tend to do that a lot with me when I try to explain it to them.
So I had to stop her and explain to her that EVERYONE experiences the symptoms of adhd throughout their lives...but what separates it for those who do, and those who don't have it...is the severity of those symptoms and the persistence of them. I don't just procrastinate once in awhile on certain unpleasant things...but then get myself up and move on. I procrastinated ALL the time on MANY things to the point where it severely disrupts my life.
I told her that I don't just experience the symptoms sometimes, but on a non-stop daily basis and that that it's been an absolute "disability" to me and has effected every single part of my life. It's not just a "once in awhile" thing for me that I can move on from.
No, it's not being oversensitive to be upset when someone who should know
better makes such a comment. Good on you for educating someone who is
supposedly already educated.

And no, it's not a lame excuse that you didn't do the sleep study right after
your mom died. I wish you'd realized the need to reschedule it though.

Gout is not caused by age or weight. Its occurrence and cause is a function of diet and genetics.

psycho...is that a 77% from pulse oximetry (), or a 77mm Hg via PA02 as part of an arterial blood gas draw? (Im hoping it is the latter )

The finger oximeter thingy that checks your pulse and oxygen levels.

Gout is more common in older, overweight males, and poor diet does tend to
lead to being overweight.

Psycho ... I bought a pulse oxometer at Walgreens pretty cheaply. Just in case
you want to monitor your blood oxygen levels.

My doctor wrote a prescription out for one for me he's pretty sure my insurance will cover it for my (I'm INSANELY lucky to have the insurance I've had my entire adult life...they've covered almost everything ever for me).

...
I'm not entirely convinced it's gout after doing some research. The pain from gout comes from joints...the pain I was experiencing felt like it was radiating from the middle of one of my bones in my foot (as well as a couple of other places to a lesser degree). That's why I though my bone was broken or fractured.

I asked him a couple of times what I should do about my foot...but he didn't answer me. He just said he thinks it might be gout...I think he was more concerned with my oxygen and getting me another appointment for a sleep study set up to fuss over the foot for now. If it's still hurting, or if I have another flare up with the pain...I'll let him know again next time I see him.

Re: The what's bothering you RIGHT NOW thread Part IV

Ugh! I don't know what happened at the emergency room before we got there
but that nurse was totally on edge.

He came to get my daughter as I was filling out her paperwork for her and told
me he'd be back to get me in a few minutes. 20 minutes later paperwork was
all done and I was still waiting. I heard them talking down the hallway.

So I got up and went to help her answer questions. Who can remember clearly
when they are in a LOT of pain? Especially someone with adhd? We've always
gone to the doctor or the ER with each other to help answer questions or to
remember the instructions for aftercare.

The male nurse tried to get me to go back to the waiting room even though my
daughter said "Please, I want her here." I just stood my ground and said "I'm
the mommy and I'm staying." The guard from the front desk came to the door
and I said "You'll have to call the cops to make me leave." Total turnaround.
Nice as anything and taking time to explain things.

They both left the room for a minute and I didn't know what was going to
happen, but then the nurse came back and it was like Jekyll had turned to Hyde
(or whichever way that story went).

She had another kidney stone, may have passed it when we got back home.
I sure hope so. That is truly terrible pain. But it seemed different than her
previous kidney stones so until they did the CT scan I wasn't sure that she
wasn't dying.

DON'T EVER GET BETWEEN A MAMA BEAR AND HER CUB
Even when her cub is all grown up and a mama bear herself.

WTH? I don't understand why they wouldn't let you be there with her in the E.R. Maybe my hospital is different because it's (relatively) small in a small town...but I've never had issues being up in the E.R. with my mom or dad (who've both spent far too much time there).

So glad you stood your ground. So glad your daughter had you there! I don't believe you could've gotten my mom to back down either...and sometimes when I was in a hospital I was a bit embarrassed to have my mom there all the time with me...cause she'd 'baby' me a lot haha...but you know something? Deep down inside, beneath all the eye rollings and such...I longed for that. I needed that. I loved that.
I miss having my mom at my side when I'm sick. /sad

Thank you for being such a loving Mama Bear to your daughter Lun-Luns <3

You had a great mama, psycho! No wonder you miss her so much.

When the nurse came back the doctor was with him. After the doc left I told
the nurse that both of us have adhd so we always try to go with each other
to help remember things. He said it's good to have a smart phone so they
can look at your ICE list to see what meds you take in case you can't talk or
can't remember. But we left Jenn's phone at home in case Nove woke up or
we needed to call her.

The nurse said he had PTSD ... not sure how that's appropo to having adhd,
but he seemed to relate. And he had said something to Jenn about them having
been "slammed" earlier. So I do sorta wonder what happened before we got
there. All was quiet when we arrived. Emergency medicine doesn't seem like
a great choice of jobs if you have PTSD that bad?
