Stripping Away the Myths Surrounding ADHD - News from NE

http://www.klkntv.com/Global/story.asp?S=2114241

"FRIDAY, July 30 (HealthDayNews) -- Sugar doesn't usually cause it and neither do head injuries nor lax parenting. About a third of the individuals diagnosed have never been overactive; it's not confined to children. And the stimulant medications prescribed to treat it probably aren't turning millions of kids into drug addicts or endangering their health.

Fortunately for children and adults with ADHD, there are a range of treatments that have proved effective in symptom management. These include -- for children -- parent education and support, school accommodations, individual and group therapies and medication. Most research shows it takes all of these, working together, to restore order to the life of an ADHD child."

TY for posting this Wheezie often in the Nebraska press we only see deragotory things said about ADD/ADHD it was very heartwarming to read such an educated and enlightened article.

And I was so glad to see that she remembered to include other treatments besides chemicals I've noticed that a lot of doctor's are prescribing meds and not offering advice to other treatments that can aid in the success of an ADD/ADHD child.

2 thumbs up!!

YW Futs.

I thought of you when I posted, especially the "e-mail to a friend" button. It might come in handy if you need to educate a teacher or administrator this year, especially since it's a regional report.
