article on increasing your productivity

Some of you might know this guy, Tyler from RSD (a dating/self actualization company). He's known to have ADD, but he is a very succesful person in this industry, and he doesn't take any medication. He wrote this article on his blog, which I think has some very good points.

Re: article on increasing your productivity

Thanks for the article Candlewax.

Personally, I don't know whether I officially have ADHD but there is a LOT of good advice in there.

I have already lived without owning a TV for a good two years now, however the internet has largely filled the hole, so his recommendation regarding that certainly speaks to me! :s (That's gonna be haaaaard!)

I'll print that out and put it alongside all Schroeder's good advice

(Off to read the Pineal Gland thing and find out what the hell POOOAH is...!?!?!)

Re: article on increasing your productivity

Wow, great article. Summary for those of us with ADD (snicker):

1. Remove the Internet from your house
2. Remove the television from your house
3. Pound yourself full of berries and fruits and vegetables and clean meats
4. Black out your bedroom and sleep in the pitch dark
5. Turn your cell phone off
6. Recognize drama and avoid it
7. When you do something fun, make sure it's something you really enjoy
8. Meditate for 20 minutes a day (I'd say prayer in place of this, if you're religious)
9. Pound your brain full of oxygen by exercising
10. Read books that have the vibe that you want for yourself

Bottom line: Consciously choose your input.

Well, he pretty much nailed it:

* Clean up your body (sleep, food, exercise)
* Remove distractions (dark bedroom, no TV, no Internet, no cell phone)
* Promote thinking (books, meditation)
* Avoid drama & have fun

I like to think I do stuff. I like to feel like I'm doing stuff. Actually, I just surf the net a lot lol. It's a horrendous trap, as is my TV with Tivo (mmm, all those DVR'd shows). And of course, when you don't feel good from lack of sleep, crappy food, and no exercise, it's a hard trap to avoid.

and lol @ CultofByron. Overthinking ftw :P

Re: article on increasing your productivity

Thanks for the link to that post!! What great ideas. I think that he is so right about limiting your screen time (computer, TV, cellphone, etc). I limit my kids to 40 minutes a day and myself to no more than 2 hours.

I loved the pictures of all the berries when he was writing about pumping himself up with great food. I have the inattentive type of ADHD and feel that exercise, nutrition, a great diet, and useful motivational tools are essential to managing my ADD. In my case, coffee doesn't hurt either
