Re: Adderall Addiction

Reading over this thread.. Very odd.. 100mg to me is nothing at all. I don't get any of those side effects. I seem to like 40mg of dexadrine in one dose. I got the Euphoria mildly the first two times taking the meds and that's it. Other than that no heart racing or jitteriness at all. Also Vyvanse to me is very weak.. Almost can't feel it at 50mg.

It's surprising such small doses can do this to people.. Surprised you guys would get some sort of brain rush or something.. Not me.. And I'm taking 40mg of dex ir in one shot and think nothing much of it. Its the dose that 'works' for me but nothing more..

Ok let's put it this way haven't lost any weight. Even my appetite is barely suppressed. I was really hoping to get my appetite suppressed but no cigar.

Addrall XR sucks and for me it's like taking nothing at all. I can take 40mg and barely feel anything.

Man its so surprising to hear such small doses can do this to people.. Really odd..

Re: Adderall Addiction

I am having a similar situation with my boyfriend. My boyfriend is ADHD and takes adderal, but instead of taking it orally, he snorts it. I am concerned because he has taken it and stayed up for consecutive nights at a time. His medicine turns him into a sex addict, and he stays up looking at porn all night long. I think that since he's taking more than the prescribed dose at a time, his brain is overstimulated, and he is seeking out constant stimulation. His doctor also prescribes him ambien to take when he has trouble sleeping. However, he is out of his adderall currently, and now snorts the ambien in substitute. I don't know what I should do...I've tried talking to him and he has asked me to hide some of his pills so he wont take them all at once. This doesn't always help because we don't live together, so when he does need his prescribed dose, I can't always give it to him. He has the opposite effect....he has gained weight because the minute he stops taking it, all he does is eat. What should I do?

He is ABSOLUTELY abusing his meds if he is snorting them!

Really, as much as he might need them, he should probably not even be allowed to have them at this time, since he is not using them responsible. Using them in this way can hardly be any better than not having them at all

It's tough, but he probably should be reported. And maybe get some rehab to boot. He obviously needs guidance along with his prescription. He is not handling his disorder in a healthy, constructive way AT ALL.

Re: Adderall Addiction

I'm surprise you are still alive. That is an insane amount of amphetamines.

Re: Adderall Addiction

I have read some articles about how people who have add have low dopamine levels and many studies have linked low dopamine levels to addictive behaviors. I think its like depression but not a lack of serotonin or it could be a lack of both but when you go to the doctor for depression they give you Serotonin boosters (prozac, paxil) and the pharmaceutical companies make trillions. I have add and have taken add boosters and it helped a little. These are otc (velvet bean). I have been addicted to many different things throughout my life and adderall to me is an amazing drug but its very easy to abuse it because it feels amazing and it turns me into this normal person who actually talks to people instead of being locked in hyperfocus mode.
A really close friend of mine took it to stay awake for work/family. He started abusing it taking around 100mgs a day and not sleeping a wink for 3 days. He actually started hallucinating. Said that he saw faces everywhere but they would disappear. I oops, I mean my friend had to take klonopin to help him bc he holds a respected position at his job and he was working. The klonopin helped btw. The next day he crashed hard after stopping the adderall. Could barely move and laid in pain with the worst hangover (next to Caffeine) that he has ever had.
I dont think that it needs to be illegal but you need to know wtf you are getting into when prescribed this med. I have done cocaine back in my party days and it feels exactly the same as adderall except adderall is smoother and safer.
All in all I think that this drug is amazing but be careful. Look up amphetamine psychosis and btw when one of the side effects is sudden death, then maybe you should stick to the prescribed dosage. Unless you are a demi god. I thought that I was but was very wrong.
Wow I am rambling.
