Help please

I am a freshman in college, just about to finish my second semester. Unfortunately, the first semester didn't go as planned. I tried to go the whole semester off of my meds (Wellbutrin and Vyvanse), and although things looked promising, everything fell apart in the last month or so of the semester. I ended up not doing 3 out of 4 of my final projects, and ended up failing and getting a D- in another (None of them were required for my major, but still). The only people who are aware of this are my therapist and my department adviser.

My school has a policy where a student will be "Academically Dismissed" if they have a GPA below 2.0 for 2 semesters in a row.

Fast forward to second semester. I began taking my meds again around a third of the way through the semester, and they helped a lot. I should get at least a B in 3 of my 4 classes, but the fourth is on the cusp between a D and a C (68.8). Basically, it's looking pretty unlikely for my GPA to be pushed up above 2.0.

I'm incredibly worried about this, since my parents don't know about this yet and I don't want to spring out with "Hey mom, hey dad, I failed out of school!"

I have not registered my ADHD with the university in any way.

What do you guys think would be a good course of action? I'm a huge ball of anxiety and stress right now.

tl;dr: I screwed up my grades and need to figure out how I can stay in school.

This is probably the first place to start -- contact the office or person who handles disability issues at your school. (And maybe also whoever does general academic advising -- but definitely also the disability office/person.)

They should be able to advise you about your options.

Many schools allow medical incompletes or withdrawals, or would consider reinstatement/readmission if there was a medical reason (now treated) that you did especially poorly your first two terms. (Also, are they looking at term GPA or cumulative GPA? -- if term by term, you should get at least a 2.5 this term with 3 B's and a D and squeak through! Assuming they're all about the same number of credits.)

Head down, do your best, get some sleep, take a walk or hit the gym to clear your head when need be. And remember, the world won't end (even for you) if you need to do a do-over.

Best of luck as you finish out this term!

It's cumulative GPA. I'm pretty sure that I need a minimum of a 2.7 average to bring up my cumulative. It's not totally out of the question, since I finished my last exam today and felt good about it.

Thanks for the advice, I'll get in contact with the disability office over the summer.

Re: Help please

Well, it sounds like you are doing your best to pull it together. I agree with the suggestion to talk with the disability coordinator at your school. Explain that you really do not want to fail out and are working your hardest to do what is required. It might not hurt to ask the instructor in the class your have the lowest grade in if there is something you can do for extra credit. That worked for me in the past.
Do you get a break over the summer? I hope so! Hang in there! My experience with school has been that they have been willing to work with those who truly want help. Good luck!
