Have to switch from Mydayis; Med best for memory?

My insurance is no longer covering Mydayis which I've been on for over 3 years now.

I figure if I have to switch, I may as well see if anyone has found a med that seems to help the most with memory? It is by and far my absolute worst ADHD symptom!

I liked Mydayis but I don't think it really helped the memory issue much at all. The only other meds I've been on are generic adderall IR and Straterra (didn't work).

I'm a scientist, I spend months on one experiment, then a few weeks later, if I am asked a basic question about it I can't answer because I don't remember! I also forget what I'm saying in the middle of speaking and often forget what someone just told me moments before. The memory thing really affects my self-confidence in my job!

Re: Have to switch from Mydayis; Med best for memory?

I had to look this up before answering to be sure:
Quote:

Mydayis is a long-acting, once daily stimulant indicated for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients 13 years and older. Mydayis contains similar active ingredients as Adderall XR but is formulated to last up to 16 hours. Adderall XR only lasts up to 12 hours, and is given once daily. The ages of use differ also: The Adderall XR capsule can be used in patients 6 years of age and older, while Mydayis is used in patients 13 years and older. Adderall XR can be purchased in a cost-saving generic formulation, but Mydayis is not available generically.

Mydayis (amphetamine and dextroamphetamine) was FDA-approved in June 2017.

Mydayis has a triple-bead release formulation for long action. It contains equal amounts (by weight) of four salts: dextroamphetamine sulfate and amphetamine sulfate, dextroamphetamine saccharate and amphetamine aspartate monohydrate. This results in a 3:1 mixture of dextro-to levo-amphetamine base equivalent.

Adderall XR combines the neutral sulfate salts of dextroamphetamine and amphetamine, with the dextro isomer of amphetamine saccharate and d,l-amphetamine aspartate monohydrate. While Mydayis has a triple-bead release action, the Adderall XR capsule contains two types of drug-containing beads designed to give a double-pulsed delivery of amphetamines. This action prolongs the release of amphetamine from Adderall XR compared to the conventional Adderall (immediate-release) tablet formulation.
It would seem to me that adderall xr would be your best bet. Even if the IR didn't work the Xr is nearly the same or at least really really similar to mydayis.
