suggestions on new social activity

I need to find some activity that keeps me in social contact with more people.

Any suggestions on something? Preferably something that doesn't cost a lot of money to do though a little money is ok.

I wanted to play on a tennis league 2 days a week but unfortunately, my knees can't handle it so had to quit. I volunteered for a bit at a non-profit tech company but I'm bored with that. Am open to other volunteer work, hobbies, sports that aren't hard on joints, etc.

Thanks.

Re: suggestions on new social activity

Do you do 1-on-1 therapy anywhere? You might want to see if the facility has any groups in place. My facility does traditional support/education based groups...but they also do social groups too. Like each monday people get together to play board games, and on thursdays they do art activities. They also do day trips (like drives up the mountains and such) and once in awhile will take trips out of town. Just ways to keep people social and not isolating like a lot of people struggle with.

As far as volunteering goes...have you ever considered going and visiting some elders at a nursing home? There's a HUGE need for it and you'd be surrounded with a bunch of people who would absolutely soak up any love and care you can give them...and it feels freaking great to be able to give that to them!
