Oh I realize that that a dog can't replace that of human friends. Was just a suggestion. Something to think about.

Do your dogs play well with your guinea pig? Or do they have to be separated from the piggy at all times?

Re: The what's bothering you RIGHT NOW thread Part V

I went to visit my ADHD girl "friend" the other day. Someone I hadn't seen in years. Really sad to see the mess that her life is currently in. She was so stoned out of her mind that she barely even recognized me or even bothered to look at me. She'd been dating some douchebag who kept her indoors and stopped her from going out and visiting her friends and family. I'm worried that she'll go back to him again, as she displays no interest in me (although it might have been the hash). I'm so tempted to turn up to her place unannounced and take care of him for her. She'd probably never forgive me for it, but I can't stay away and watch him send her to an early grave, because that's exactly what he'll do.

My sister's in a similar relationship. I spent 18 days in jail for getting into a fight with her boyfriend.
She still went back to him.
I decided there's no way in hell I'm ever going back to jail.

So I went and talked to the chief of police who introduced me to a group of amazing women who take in abused women and children and give them a warm, safe place to stay while helping them in court to get custody of their children and restraining orders and what not.
...My sister wanted nothing to do with it.

I kept trying. I kept letting her know that the second she needed me, I'd be there. So she'd call me in tears begging me to help her...only when I'd reach out to help...she'd shut me down and close off to me real quick.

This went on for years, and my life was a wreck for it. Constantly in her drama trying damned hard to find ways to help her as best I could...without landing in jail again.

It got to a point where it became too much. Too painful and I was too emotionally invested and time and time again she refused to let me (or my parents, or any of her friends who actually cared about her...or anyone) help her.

So I had to cut her out of my life. I still think about her from time to time, and for years I felt like I was a horrible human for cutting her out of my life...

But it boils down to a choice. And I know it's not easy...but it is a choice that she makes. And I'm just not up to playing her games. It was way too painful and exhausting and infuriating.

...
I'd definitely recommend not going over there and picking a fight with the a-hole. It'll likely only cause more anger in his life, and your friend is likely to just go back to him again when all is said and done.
And jail sucks. Miserable experience.

I really don't have any advice. I wish I did. I wish my sister had a happy ending to this story. She's still with him...it's been something like 9-10 years now. He's still abusive. She still plays games (my mom, up till her passing, never gave up on my sister. She'd even take trips to go see my sister to try and convince to pack her stuff and to take her and her kids back to live with my mom and dad). I always felt so bad for my mom...cause the constant battle for my sister caused her so much grief. Her life was so full of this extreme drama...I always wanted her to so badly just let go like I had done.

I'd still be there for my sister in a heart beat. But at this point I've all but given up.

Yeah, I get your point. I already know how these things go.

However, I was considering a more "permanent" solution.

Yeah I get that .

I use to have those longings myself.

It took cutting my sister out of my life before all those negative and draining thoughts started to stop.
I'm glad to be out from under that black cloud.

I don't think I'd survive a long term in prison. Honestly.

No, I probably wouldn't either. But as pathetic as it sounds, I value her life over my own, even if she is undeserving of that.

She's an absolute waster who couldn't care less about me, yet i'd still do anything I could to save her.

Have to see the hand doc due to newly developed nerve pain and his local office is booked so I have to drive during the worst part of rush hour on the busiest roads to get there at 8:40am.

That sucks. Hope it's nothing serious, just healing twinges.

When I saw the spine specialist last week and they checked my blood pressure,
it was higher than normal. Yeah, because I had to drive in freeway traffic to get
there. And that wasn't even rush hour.

Last two summers my daughter and granddaughter(s) went to DisneyWorld
I drove them across town to the airport and picked them up again. This year
they're going to DisneyLand and I told her I would pay for an Uber ride or a
taxi, but I am not going to drive on the freeway in construction traffic again.
