Guanfacine / Intunitiv Vs. Straterra

Hey I have tried almost every stim out there. A lot of side effects etc.

I have read that strattera with concerta or adderall xr is a good combo, but i am worried about the sexual side effects of the straterra

Any idea as to how the guanfacine is compared to straterra?

I have read that there is a less desire for sex with guanfacine, but not any problems with delayed ejaculation etc.

waht about the effectiveness of straterra vs. Guanfacine?

Re: Guanfacine / Intunitiv Vs. Straterra

its for hyperactive type add

save your self $$$$ by getting Tenex (same ingredient) or generic Guanfacine that has been around for years to treat high blood pressure.

Intuniv is not new. FDA just approved the active ingredient (Guanfacine) for ADHD thats whats new.

Intuniv is time released also.

high markup, marketing crap, and semi-ineffective adhd drugs. Is the new trend in this industry.

Guanfacine HCl - 2mg Tablets
90 tablets$76.00

Intuniv - 2mg 24 Hour Tablets
90 tablets$435.98

almost 6 times the price.

Ok, what is the differences between the two? I have read that guanfacine actually might work well for inattentive types

I'm on Straterra and Guanfacine. The Straterra helped with focus. the Guanfacine seems to help more with being less impulsive but does not seem to help with focus much. But it may affect you differently. Like Straterra you have to take it for several weeks to see if it helps any.

guanfacine is the name of the drug. The other is just a brand name of the drug. There are differences in dosage and encapsulating.

As to it being new to treat ADHD, this came on my radar a while ago. At least a couple of years.

Re: Guanfacine / Intunitiv Vs. Straterra

I might just try it out...Im wondering if it slows things down...

I understand that it is another angle for the drug companies to make some coin...but it was fda approved so I'm wondering if anyone has had ANY positive results from it....it sounds like people don't like it....

Re: Guanfacine / Intunitiv Vs. Straterra

There have been people with positive side-effects but as stated it is one of the newer drugs. Tests are still being done of course.

Originally designed as a blood pressure medication, it's now this. I can try to dig up some studies that I found about it if you would like, but it would take me a bit of effort and time to do so.

Hi! Are you still taking Strattera + Guanfacine? How is your blood pressure? Strattera should raise it while Guanfacine should lower it so I guess it's a good synergic overall effect.
Are you taking Guanfacine XR (Intuniv) or generic Guanfacine?
