If the sleepiness is indeed being caused by the Strattera, I'm not sure if there is a way to stop it. I would talk to your doctor as there may be medications you can take to counteract the fatigue.

Here's a thread on ADHD and fatigue:

I'm personally hoping to try Modafinil soon; however, it's not recommended for use in children (which in the US is anyone under age 18). Since you're close to age 18, you may want to ask your doctor about it.

Re: Does Strattera make you Sleepy?

For me personally the first time around on this med made me very sleepy yet calmed my mind.

The second time I tried it, it didn't make me sleepy at all. Weird.

Re: Does Strattera make you Sleepy?

Strattera causing fatigue really depends on your reactivity to the med (Really ?!). Some get lethargy kind of feelings, others tolerate without problem or have other kinds of side effects.

But generally speaking, NRI (Norepinephrine ReUptake Inhibitor which Atomoxetine is) tend to cause more intenses sides effects than psychostimulants. Usually in comparison on SNRI (Effexor, Cymbalta, Pristiq) with SSRI (Paxil, Zoloft, Lexapro), you will get more side effects from SNRI.

Wellbutrin could potentially work when none of the above solutions (DRI and NRI) can't be tolerated. Some on this forum had good results, others didn't see improvement, depends on your situation/reaction of the med..

I should say causing more fatigue side effects instead, compare to psychostimulant.

Paying attention while sleeping. Sleepily attentive. Sounds like a drag unless you like to sleep.

Re: Does Strattera make you Sleepy?

Urggh. I am having this problem so bad.
around 1-2pm everyday.. I start to feel really relaxed like i could fall into a coma. Its really bad. I have 3 kids under 9 so lazying around at this time of day is not an option. So frustrating. I have been on Strattera this time for
about 4.5 months.... I dont remember the fatigue being this bad last time i was on it.
